Re: Look at all the FCC silent notifications in N. Michigan...
A lot of stations use off air antennas to feed the satellites and translators, at least as a backup. But somebody has to notice and report it when it's silent. Off-air can work, but it can come back to bite you during "conditions" when you inadvertently end up simulcasting a co-channel FM from hund...

96.9 the Drive can be picked up somewhat often in the Manistee and Ludington areas.

In 2003 arguably the best sales team in the area was under his roof. Then he started to "adjust" things. It was an excellent plan that executed so poorly, they should study it at the Comm school at MSU. Is that around the time that they poached Ryan Dobry from WTCM, only for most of her listenershi...

It's impressive how WLAW managed to get 6kW despite being short-spaced (or nearly short-spaced) to WLAV and WJIM

Are you sure about that? The majority in Northern MI certainly are. Station values have plummeted for a reason. Midwestern and MacGarb will never get the value of what their properties were worth 20 years ago. They will probably dissolve in a similar fashion to Northern Broadcasting when the respec...

KVAL is in Eugene. KEZI must be dominant there (Eugene was a two-station market into the 1980s)

Re: FM power in different areas
I've also noticed that Chicago only has one grandfathered power FM, 90.1 WMBI (which also happens to be one of two stations below 92 MHz that cover most of the market). In Los Angeles and San Francisco, most of the full-market FMs have grandfathered power (with a few exceptions in each market)

Re: Look at all the FCC silent notifications in N. Michigan...
I wouldn't be surprised if most if not all of these stations either have their licenses cancelled or get sold to a noncommercial entity within the next couple of years. IMHO, moving 106.3 from Ludington to TC has to be one of the worst moves in Michigan radio history. Not only did the 106.3 frequenc...

92.5 is back on the air playing 80's adult contemporary music. Not simulating any other station.Iding as WFDX Atlanta.Singal is coming in quite well in the greater Traverse City area. Ditto. In Memphis, Audacy will move the Wolf format from 94.1 to 99.7, which runs grandfathered power (300kW)

Re: Blarney Stone Broadcasting
In reality, Finster was their engine in this market, Can't say for sure, but from all the little tibits I've heard,it strongly sounds like Finster was fired by Blarney Stone. Just a random thought from a guy who is not in the radio biz, Would it be feasible or make sense for Smile FM to purchase the...

Re: WOMC HD WYCD HD
102.9 WWWW has now added HD. The HD2 is a simulcast of 1050 WTKA. I noticed this on Friday (3/24) evening when driving through Ann Arbor. I wonder when they turned it on. Speaking of turning on HD, both 102.3 and 106.5 in the Toledo area have turned on HD within the past few months (with 106.5 havi...
