New CHR Launches in Kalamazoo

From RadioInsight: After moving Variety Hits “96.5 Jack-FM” to 106.5 WVFM last week, Midwest Communications launched CHR “Hits 96.5” on WZOX Portage/Kalamazoo at noon today. Positioning as “Always More Music”, the station is taking direct aim at Townsquare Media’s market leading CHR 103.3 WKFR. The ...

Re: Thoughts on Rush Limbaugh's legacy

How do we know he's even dead? Why are they refusing to release the long form death certificate? Is he secretly living in Kenya?

I'm a little surprised RKR didn't have a better formed succession plan for Mike McKelly in place, although I do really like the move just made. Not gonna lie, I Iike Benson in this role, but it seems that the timing is strange as he can't be more than a few years from retirement himself. Along with...

He's staying in the building for an as yet unnamed morning gig. Perhaps RKR?

Re: Cumulus Loses Lions, Where Will They Land In GR?

Sales teams love major sports, they can make big dollars putting packages together and associating the station with the NFL.

I don't believe that Cumulus local was paying as it was part of the WJR deal, that's why I was wondering where they might land.

Re: Scott Winters Joins Parler and asks others to follow

I don't think Scott is a racist, but he sure has racist fans on his FB page and he definitely comes of as a whiny TrumpTard. Best to just let these guys fizzle out. Let him do his traffic reports on WFGR and piss and moan about masks on facebook. He's essentially irrelevant moving forward (like parl...

Re: While we go high, Cume-u-lost goes low...

Not a chance they can get her name, prior usage is pretty clear. If anyone in Detroit would have that claim, it would have been iHeartMedia, but even they aren't that petty. As far as the rest of it, I would be putting it in a sales package if I'm WSN, they're a startup and can play the David positi...

Cumulus Loses Lions, Where Will They Land In GR?

Cumulus has lost the rights to be the network home for Lions football in Detroit. My guess is that they didn't even bid. Now that they reside with Entercom, what is the likely scenario for Grand Rapids? Will Cumulus pay to keep them on LAV or will iHeart make a play for WOOD/ESPN? Any chance Townsqu...

Local iHeartRadio Firings

As part of a nationwide restructuring, cuts have begun. Local jock pages have been removed from station websites across the country while the layoffs take place. Locally Dave Conrad of B93 has confirmed he's no longer employed via his facebook page. Other cuts reported in building, but not confirmed.

Re: Theory regarding Cumulus' next format move

Heard that the night show on WHTS may soon be reverting back to a local one and that some familiar talents might be back in the market.
