It might be Oldies at first, but I can see him gradually phasing in Ethnic Programming as time goes by. The Southern Ontario board has been discussing the future of the radio stations.

Re: CHYR Radio 7 Leamington
Under Bell Media's ownership both CKWW and CKLW are inferior in terms of signal strength than what they used to be. CKLW is now about even with WJR on a signal strength meter where I live. Their directional pattern was good at sending a higher power my way compared to the non-directional signal from...

Re: 50.5 Nosey?
Right now, it says that the resolution on 50.5 is 1080i, making WKBD the second television station in the market to have dual 1080i's after Detroit Public TV (56). If something is going to be upgraded, I would expect it to be Comet. Although Nosey might be added somewhere, why broadcast it in HD?

Re: WJBK signal strength?
You're right. I always thought that two 1080i's wouldn't work over ATSC 1.0
My TV set indicates that channel 50.5 is also in 1080i. Right now, there is a test pattern that reads CBS TV DETROIT on it.

Re: The History of UHF Television
The CRTC does not allow two TV broadcasts to use 720p and share a single 6 MHz bandwidth. That means Omni.1 and Omni.2
are on different channels in Toronto, Ottawa, and London. The same goes for CBC English and the French language service.

Re: WJBK signal strength?
The WADL signal could be fixed rather quickly. Detroit Public TV is 1080i which means they could use channel sharing with WADL if they are willing to broadcast with 720p. If you watch FOX 2 over the ATSC 3.0 transmission, you can get it with a UHF antenna. It also gets out to the west without too mu...

Re: Rock ‘n Stereo 101 WRIF
It will take some time to get through all of this, but this show might cover the demise of the Top 40 era on AM 1270, along with the WXYZ-FM phases over at 101 FM. If you can find old copies of the Free Press and the Detroit News online, it might also be mentioned there. https://mcrfb.com/?page_id=286

Re: Better sensitivity/selectivity from new RF DSP Chip
It's true that the radios with it right now do not have SSB. One of the receivers is at a low wholesale price however. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806073140794.html?src=google&src=google&albch=shopping&acnt=272-267-0231&slnk=&plac=&mtctp=&albbt=Google_7_shopping&gclsrc=aw.ds&albagn=888888&ds_...

Re: Rock ‘n Stereo 101 WRIF
I think the timeline for 101.1 FM went like this: 1948-1958: Both AM 1270 and 101 FM simulcasted ABC network variety programming. They were WXYZ radio. 1958-1966: The Top 40 phase was on both the AM & FM. They were known as Channel 1270. 1966-1967: The FCC simulcast law came into effect. WXYZ-FM had...

Better sensitivity/selectivity from new RF DSP Chip
The chip is known as the NXP TEF6686. It sounds like it is even better than the DSP circuit that the current Sangean, Eton/Grundig, and CCrane radios use right now. https://radiojayallen.com/qodosen-sr-286-am-fm-sw-high-performance-portable/ https://swling.com/blog/2022/12/ivan-checks-out-the-new-te...

Re: 0.10 miles from cellular antennas and interference
WADL TV is 39 miles away from that location, and it is difficult to receive. WDIV is the one that tends to be the first one to come in, due to a taller broadcast tower. The two bridges between the U.S/Canada border are southwest of that location, so that might not help.

0.10 miles from cellular antennas and interference
I was trying to get stable TV reception from the inside of an apartment building that is only 0.10 from another building that has those cell phone antennas on the roof. They came in off and on. I was using an inexpensive amplified antenna. I am wondering if a passive antenna + an LTE filter would wo...
