Re: Who remembers the ethnic festivals in Detroit?
I suspect another factor, unspoken, was that the Young administration didn't get enough of a payday from the organizers. I would not put ANY stock in anything Pappas said on anything. I especially liked the Polish and Italian festivals. Great food. If you think about, in the day we had "Polish Frien...

Going through some old pics... Anybody remember going to these downtown? Great photos and memories....thanks. I used to go them....great photo opportunities. I remember they moved them around some. The were by the post office on Jefferson for a while, then actually downtown at the foot of Woodward....

Complete HBO 1983 opening!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1NKoMNy5bY&ab_channel=HBO Boy, that brings back memories. Lots of subtlety in that one....passing over and above the neighborhood theater, and the HBO logo in space rotating like the satellite that carried it. We were involved in the MDS ...

The station automation as of this morning is in need of attention....spanish language spots, spots with network prepended station instructions, liners stepping on spots.

Re: Which mobile phone MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators) are best?
...........If one did their due diligence could you know in advance what features the carrier might disable? That might be doable, but still a kind of tough. You would have to make a list of all the features you want to work, then sort of 'reverse research' complaints on support forums and boards n...

Re: Which mobile phone MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators) are best?
Hi Craig, There is no quick answer, as MVNOs are mixed bag of pros and cons. Mostly the only pro is the pricing. The cons are many: you might not have the option for free Mexico and Canada calls and texts....you might not be able to buy the 'international day pass' (really nice deal)....you may not ...

Hi Ben, Always a pleasure to have you in a discussion! TIS stations are regulated by 47CFR§90.242 Here is a convenient reference as to your questions on frequency assignment, power, modulating audio rolloff, and more: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-47/chapter-I/subchapter-D/part-90/subpart-J/sec...

Re: Best fast food French fries?
How the hell did BK rank #2 on this list but In-and-Out rank only #10?!!! WTF? Also, many noteworthy chains weren't even mentioned, such as Carl's Jr. / Hardees, Rally's / Checker's, A&W, Sonic, Culver's, and the absolutely phenomenal Whataburger. I don't have the answer, but BK really does try to ...

Although I don't enjoy the order kiosks either, I don't understand the unhappiness that I'm reading here towards the operators of the restaurants. We can have either the traditional model that has worked for years....that being workers just entering the work force as young people, or retirees lookin...

Re: Traveler information stations on AM 530, 1610, etc
Livonia has one on 1670. Was hoping they’d put it to better use during some emergencies we had this winter. But nope. Municipal emergency managers oftentimes change regularly; it is often a landing spot for local police officers who've gotten the credentials and are doing the job later in their car...

Re: Traveler information stations on AM 530, 1610, etc
I found it. https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/license.jsp?licKey=1230565 According to that data, the license expired nearly a year ago. So are they operating illegally, or is that information just out of date? As an aside, they actually have 3 transmitters according to the map. That link i...

Re: Traveler information stations on AM 530, 1610, etc
It is hard to find out much info online on the details of specific stations. The licenses are administered under Part 90; the listings are in the ULS database. https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/searchLicense.jsp I'm not seeing a 1610 in the Oscoda area, but I didn't research it thoroughly....

Another casualty is the self-service drink area. I prefer unsweet iced tea with a just a shot of lemonade in it. That can be done yourself; if they are preparing the drink most won't custom pour drinks, and if they do, don't typically get it right. I simply don't go to those restaurants (and I have ...
