Re: Huel and Monica to retire!!

Pretty amazing run of 25 years together as co-anchors. Are there any other examples of two anchors working as a team for this long?

Re: December Radio Ratings

With the insane ratings that WNIC gets in December, I'm really surprised that 'YCD or 93.1 didn't go for a Country Christmas format. They both took a hit in the December books because of NIC's dominance. Yeah, I mean, this is the same story year after year, but the holiday ratings for WNIC still bl...

Re: Hmmm,is the news drought at CBS62 about to come to an end?

I think CBS is looking for streaming to make this a success moreso than OTA viewership. Just look at all of the CBSN channels on PlutoTV. If you only have say Xfinity internet and no OTA antenna (or can't pick up a signal), having CBSN Detroit is your best bet for local news. It could also eat into...

Re: Ellen Bacca named first female Chief Meteorologist in West Michigan

To 48125 - no graphics package will EVER be worse than the one WOOD-TV used in the early/mid 90's shortly after the switchover from WOTV to WOOD-TV. The music package & voiceovers were great (Paul Anthony) but those humungous italicized, grainy, oversized sans serif captions, and the mutilated "8" ...

Re: Waze

I tend to use Waze for my standard daily commute to and from work. I do like its resourcefulness with routing around unexpected issues. When you know the area, and you're just looking for any way to cut down on time, I would recommend Waze. I am stubbornly insistent, though, on using Google Maps if ...

Re: Ken Jennings as Jeopardy! Host

I had been pretty positive it would be Jennings, even before all of the guest hosting started, just because of his connection and history to the show, and he seems like he would have been a relatable figure. He knows what it's like to be a J! contestant. Also, J! had hired Jennings to be some sort o...

Oh my God, I had no idea there was such thing as a Bluetooth turntable. That's a weird combo.

I think we're going to need a gender clarification here. Typo, or no? :rollin

Re: Radio ratings 1993-94

https://youtu.be/eGfuHWRY5vg Air check from 1996, not terribly long after the flip to WDRQ. This playlist is just a fantastic time capsule. What a time for 'dance' radio. I would never listen to this kind of thing at the time in 1996, but now it's retro in just the right way. Who is this jock in th...

Re: Ben Bailey leaving WDIV

This is a shame, in my opinion. I thought he was a good forecaster, and very likable. If they do promote the horrid Andrew Humphrey, I'm out. That would be a disaster. Though I wouldn't be surprised. I honestly would LOVE Paul Gross to get the big job. He's great. Probably won't happen; he's been pa...

Re: Most Annoying Commercials

Gardner-White Furniture is running a 30 and 60 sec. (it seems longer) "anthem"-style spot, themed "It All Starts Now." It has a recurring hook "I'm On My Way." What makes this spot Most Annoying is that it is like being trapped inside some pop-y, impossibly cheerful Katie Perry song, and it goes re...

Re: That's Just A Rumor...

Pluto TV is one of my favorites. Pluto TV is absolutely amazing for being free. It's the kind of thing that everyone needs to know about. I have YouTube TV, which is one of those kinda fake OTT services that's essentially just a new cable company. I mean, it costs $65/month now. (Trust me, a lot of...

Re: ALT 98.7 reaches new low in June...1.6 Share

Ooh, good point. Cristina would fit in well on 107one. I'll bet that crowd would love the Time Warp, even. I mean, they play the syndicated New Wave Nation on Sat nights; why not replace that with something live and local? 107one is still, IMO, the best radio station in the area by a mile. There rea...
