Re: Snyder admin. willfully poisons Flint's water customers
Do the suburban areas of Genesee County still get their water from Detroit? It's not clear from the pipeline maps, nor has the news media addressed these specific issues. Whoever commented about the needed capacity may be correct about the City of Flint, but Genesee County as a whole continues to ha...

Re: Snyder admin. willfully poisons Flint's water customers
No one seems to be blaming Detroit for overcharging for water in the first place. It's easy to point fingers, but no one seems to be pointing that way. Good for you jry, moving to a place where water wells are not restricted. It seems like the infrastructure is breaking down all over, not just Flint...

Re: Snyder admin. willfully poisons Flint's water customers
The irony of all this is that at one time, many cities had laws forbidding residents from drilling their own wells, allegedly because the water was potentially contaminated with bacteria or other substances. Does anyone know if that is still the case? Otherwise, I think now you are better off with a...

Re: Snyder admin. willfully poisons Flint's water customers
It looks like there is a lot of blame to go around. It looks like Detroit has tried to keep Flint out of the loop of rate increase discussions, so that is how the situation got this way in the first place. They were ordered to switch to the old Flint system to save money.

Look at the demographics of the three county area as a whole, and if Governor Snyder really thinks that way, he should look too.TC Talks wrote:Do you think that Snyder cares about poor minority democratic voters?

Re: Snyder admin. willfully poisons Flint's water customers
Anybody have a map showing the new pipeline route? I would assume that many Northern Metro communities will be closer to the new pipeline than to Detroit. I will try to find links to the inflammatory speeches from the 1960s. There was an activist named Loving as I recall who referred to Detroit shut...

Re: Snyder admin. willfully poisons Flint's water customers
The way I heard it, Detroit has been overcharging Flint for water for years. From the beginning back in the 1960s, some politicians in Detroit saw using water as a weapon as a good thing, and wanted to charge "suburbs" exorbitant rates. Somehow, Flint got lumped with the suburbs, even though they ha...
