Re: FM reception in the southeast part of the US
Tropo propagation is usually made possible by temperature inversions. Given the usual summertime weather and climate over the Gulf of Mexico and along the U.S. gulf coast, it's not surprising that there will frequently be favorable conditions along the fronts in that area. Similar conditions can be ...

Re: Xfinity is offering Peacock Premium for free to certain subscribers
Until recently, Xfinity subscribers had Peacock Premium (which Comcast owns) available at no extra charge. I didn't then (or now) find any of its content compelling enough to view when it was free, and then zero desire to pay for it. Also, the Peacock app on the Xfinity X1 box was (might still be) a...

There's also ESPN 850 Cleveland (I can't bring myself to call it WKNR ).

Re: WTF?> WDIV F*cks up NBC news feed on 4.3, again.
I looked at the NBC News Now app and other streaming sites. They were not live streaming the 6:30pm NBC Nightly news program. CBET/CBC at that time was not running news of any kind. My "on demand" demand was to be able to watch the newscast as it was being originated. NBC affiliate Local4 chose not ...

Re: digital TV signals
Is there a single best location to find the list of digital TV signals, sub-channels of the main over-the-air TV signals in West Michigan? (Such as 13-1, 13-2, 13-3, etc.), I believe almost all the major over-the-air TV channels have these sub-channels, many of which are not picked up by area cable...

WTF?> WDIV F*cks up NBC news feed on 4.3, again.
WDIV, despite onset of a new middle east war, decides to not air the 6:30p NBC Nightly on 4.1, putting it up, as last weekend, on MeTV 4.3, and airs Local4's local sports show on the "main" channel. At 6:30 on MeTV, an NBC countdown pops in, with the program guide indicating NBC Nightly, and the new...

Re: SiriusXM might merge with Liberty Media
I think we're still several years away from over the air satellite service from being discontinued. I cannot picture them leaving in-dash listeners at the side of the road. Some sort of USB dongle will probably be developed to permit continued use of in-dash tuners. I could see them continuing dire...

Re: CBS News Detroit
Bits and pieces I heard on the police scanner… your trusted source for information in your neighborhood… on your block around the clock. Haven't most cities gone encrypted digital and you can't listen to them anymore? I also assumed that this is why scanner radio sales fell drastically. Sales fell ...

Re: Auto Show Charity Preview on WDIV
I believe you are correct about last night's episode being a rerun. "Wheel" is into its new season. Jeopardy is new shows, for next few weeks is a "Second Chance" tournament of former contestants, using clues "recycled" from long-past shows, not newly-WGA-written ones. The show that Loco4 cut off i...

Auto Show Charity Preview on WDIV
Loco4 announced on-air and in the xfinity guide that Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy would be seen on 4.3 MeTV, while 4.1 carries the Auto Show Charity Preview. I and many others could not give a sh*t about the Auto Show silliness. In fact, the usual MASH episode is running on MeTV, and not Wheel, as ...

Lions game TV delay
Watching the Lions/Chiefs game (yay Lions!!). Noticed that the game on my kitchen OTA set was way ahead of what I was seeing from WDIV on the Xfinity box in the TV room. Timed the latency between OTA broadcast and cable at 43 seconds! I think in recent past the Comcast delay of WDIV has been just 7-...
