Re: Right to work ends Tuesday (13th)

In Ontario, anyone can opt out of Union membership, but they're still required to pay dues and the Union is required to represent the person

But they don't get a Union card and they can'r participate in the Union. They can't attend meetings or vote in Union elections.

Re: Right to work ends Tuesday (13th)

My union dues are the best money I spend and it's about the cheapest regular bill that I have. No freeloading, pay your dues. You're absolutely right. My Union dues were the best investment I ever made. I recoverd every nickel of it in Pension benefits during the first six months of my retirement.

Re: Cornhole

I've played that since I was a kid. But it seems it started getting called Cornhole only in the last 10 or 15 years. I think we called it Beanbag. The boards were all homemade back then. Never seen anyone selling them at flea markets or craft shows like now. Perhaps they felt that beanbagging neede...

Cornhole

So, they're playing a game here now they call cornhole. I'm old enough to remember when cornhole was a vulgar term. If you had asked some guy to play cornhole you might have got a punch in the mouth.

Now, it seems, it's a legitimate sport. How long until we see it in the Olympics?

Re: I'm in This Photo

So, I just picked up Dorsey's Tropic of Stupid last week. It has an opening page that just makes one want to keep on reading. The rain had just stopped when the convenience store clerk asked the customer not to heat up his urine in the microwave. The customer explained that the urine he was heating ...

Re: What These Boys Should Have Done

I was pointing out that a real man is not embarrassed to buy feminine products his wife or significant other. I embarrassed myself going in one day to get some for my wife. As part of a special promotion, they had them all stacked in a pyramid at the end of the aisle. I knocked them all down. I sta...

Lost Dog

This ad is on TV every night here in Florida. It seems pretty realistic until it gets to the end. If the dog was really returning home after being lost, it wouldn't be so calm. It would be going crazy.

Re: UPS delivers 12,000 job cuts to management months after historic deal for unionized drivers

So, when UPS says "We don't have enough drivers, so we have to lay off more drivers." let me know.

You can even say "I told you so."

Re: UPS delivers 12,000 job cuts to management months after historic deal for unionized drivers

You just showed once again how your union expertise is limited to places that only employ less than 50 or so people. Mac's Tool & Die. Metro Plastics. Etc. Do me a favor. Drop a dime on your fellow SOAR buddies that are retired from a big integrated mill. Ask them about "cooperative partnership" an...

Re: UPS delivers 12,000 job cuts to management months after historic deal for unionized drivers

Notice that none of the jobs cut were Union jobs. Not yet ... You of all people should know this dance has just started. First move lay off salary saying it's to cut cost. Next move is to move some union people into the office to do the same job the laid off salary was performing. Call them planner...

Easy Beer

Out on my bike today, I was going past a bar and decided to go in for a beer. When I was finished the bartender asked if I wanted another. When I told him No he made a proposal. A party of five or six had just left. The bartender told me he'd give me another beer if I'd clear their table. It so happ...
