Re: WXYZ Woodward dream cruise

It’s a public street. Couldn’t any channel simply show the darn thing, make a TV special out of it? That's a good point. It's interesting to think about which events get coverage and on which channels. It at least used to be true that the NAIAS charity preview was covered live by both 4 and 7 at th...

Listened again today and noticed a theme; all female artists for half an hour and then two songs geared towards females, Bruno Mars and Jason Miraz.
Ah, interesting, like the original branding of 93.1 DRQ! "93-1 The New DRQ: Detroit's Station For Women"

Re: CBS62 re-brands as CBS Detroit

They can go back to the CBS Detroit branding, that's fine. As long as they avoid the worst one ever, which was "WWJ TV Detroit." https://imgur.com/a/Fyko20H

Re: WOMC playing 2000s songs

The logistics of how Billboard categorized double singles back in the day, or a "double-A side" in 1997, are always fascinating to me. That's just it, though... the charts have always been decided by whatever rules Billboard decides to put in place at the time. In 1998 they changed the longstanding ...

Re: WOMC playing 2000s songs

Remember also that MTV played very few videos by the likes of Celine or Richard Marx – that’s what VH-1 was for. The artists the kids really clamored for were on MTV, and (except when “My Heart Will Go On” was popular) that wasn’t Celine Dion for the most part. That's an interesting point that I ha...

Re: Local 4 Music

Does anyone remember when WDIV sports played the same music for 15 years? They used the instrumental from Frank Stallone's Far from Over. :rollin Yep, definitely. I didn't know that's what it was, but I just listened to that song and yeah, I can remember that being the music for Sports Final ...

Re: No more 4-Zone Weather on WDIV!

I figured they did a weather rebrand specifically to coincide with Kim Adams taking on the lead duties. Kind of makes sense to do it all at once. 4Warn is definitely the name of the overall weather brand. I have the WDIV weather app on my phone, and the app icon changed about a week ago to be "4Warn...

Re: People in Washtenaw County love WUOM

Just wanted to pitch in and say that 107one is definitely my favorite station. I live in Canton and can get it with no issues at all. It's a rare station nowadays, left alone so it can appeal to the area, and they do a great job of it. When I hear 107one, I feel like it's a last-remaining vestige of...

Re: WOMC playing 2000s songs

Also, especially during the early '90s, many of the songs that made it onto CHR radio were AC crossovers - Mariah Carey's early hits, Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, Amy Grant, Gloria Estefan, Bette Midler, Toni Braxton, Richard Marx, etc. Those songs appealed to women in their 40s even then who would...

Re: Local 4 Music

This is great, because, yeah... I feel like they had the same music practically forever. 20 years? It easily could be. I believe they had different music for 5/6 and for 11 pm ... but it never changed. This is at least something different. I'm a little surprised they embraced the NBC chimes, because...

Re: WDIV Local 4 preempting MLB on NBC this Sunday

Does seem like a weird choice. I guess WDIV has no faith in getting any viewership and would rather go for the easy money. It's a shame. I will say, a) 11:30 is a weird, very early time for baseball, and b) maybe they were especially worried about the overlap with the Tigers game at 1:10.

Re: Noticeable playlist additions at Alt 98.7

Barf - I hate Interstate Love Song by STP. For some reason I still remember the time on 89X .... hell, this was probably early 2000s, when the morning show was still Kelly, Dave, and Chuck the Freak. Kelly Brown IDs "Interstate Love Song" and says "Sure, you might hear that song on other Detroit st...

I hope the B1G is smart enough to not let NBC put games on Peacock only.
They won't. Football is one of the biggest ratings draws left. It's pretty much the best thing they could air OTA for advertising dollars, so they will.

Re: NBC Olympics Show Nothing

Yikes. Average of 11.4M viewers per night. That's... not good.

Very telling that they only managed to record an Olympic rating of 21M directly after THE SUPER BOWL. That's a drop of... almost 100M from the lead-in?
