Pirate on 87.9 Grand Rapids
Anybody else hearing what I'm hearing on 87.9 in the Grand Rapids area. Spanish Music/Language station on 87.9. Strong enough to stop on the seek button on the Northeast side of town. I was up in Sand Lake last week and could hear it up there too, but pretty weak by that point.

Re: Detroit Lions 2021
Allowing a team to convert a 4th and 19 from deep in their own territory with just a few seconds left in the game also came back to bite them in the ass.

Re: Super Q - Whitehall in the late 70's.
Very accurate description of the last days of Super Q as I knew it. After that fire it was on to bigger and better things. Thanks for the memories.

Re: Michael Sirianni
I know that Michael hasn't been doing well for quite some time, but reading Steve's post this morning still hit me like a ton of bricks. Michael was the ultimate professional and a really nice guy too. Michael was as close to being a radio star as you could be in Grand Rapids, but you would never kn...

Re: Super Q - Whitehall in the late 70's.
I was long gone before it was ZZR. By that time I was working at GRD. As for John Barry, I worked with John at Super Q in 77-78. Our paths crossed again at WLAV in 1979. I last saw John about 5 years ago at a radio luncheon in GR. He is alive and well, but no longer working in the radio business.

Re: Super Q - Whitehall in the late 70's.
That is correct, Jim Curcuru (aka The Q Man) did mornings for awhile and also worked at MUS. He moved from on air to sales at Super Q and I believe he was involved mostly in sales at MUS also.

Re: Super Q - Whitehall in the late 70's.
Super Q in Whitehall. I know lots about Super Q in Whitehall. I was the program director there from 1974-78. We had a tight sounding little station with lots of talented on air people. Including the aformentioned John Alan who did the evening shift and was also the Chief engineer. Daniel Boone aka D...

Bob Moore and Bill Hollon former WZZM-FM jocks R.I.P.
I've been meaning to post this for some time, but keep getting busy and forget to do so. Two of my former co-workers at WZZM-FM in the early 70's have passed away. Bob Moore worked the morning show on ZZM 1970-73. He had previously worked in Muskegon at WTRU and WMUS. Bob later became an engineer an...

Re: Anyone Remember The Stations That Carried The Indy 500 In The 1960s?
I don't recall WMAX ever running the 500. I remember WOOD being the station that had the 500 in the Grand Rapids market

Ed VerSchure
Info from the WHTC website that long time West Michigan radio and TV personality Ed VerSchure has passed away at the age of 75. Ed worked at several stations during his career including WGRD, WZZM-TV (for over 30 years) and was the original owner of 92.7 WEVS in Saugatuck (now the Van). I worked wit...

Re: JIM PRICE STINKS !!!
Well, a post above did ask it Jim Price was ever on a 25 man roster in the major leagues. I think I accurately answered that question. Whether he is qualified to broadcast a baseball game isn't my decision. Thankfully.

Re: Detroit Tigers 2021
From what I've seen so far, this team may come close to the 114 losses of the 2018 team. I hope they prove me wrong. Being a life long Tiger and Baseball fan, I still watch or listen to just about every Tiger game.
