Re: WOOD TV Departures

I have a Katherine Ducharme story. I was covering the Glenna Duram trial in Newaygo County for WGLM Radio in Greenville and Great Lakes News Service. Katherine was there for WOOD TV. She's a super person and was a delight to get to know. After Glenna was sentenced, we got the quotes we needed from t...

Jay Allen has cancer

There’s a post on Jay Allen’s Facebook page that he has been diagnosed with gallbladder cancer that has spread to his liver and lungs and possibly in his lymph nodes. Jay Allen was best known as the sports guy on WKLQ’s Q Morning Zoo in the early 90s working alongside Darla Jaye and the late Rick Be...

Re: Geri Jarvis has passed away

Jarvis and her husband Dave Jagger hosted “The Dave and Geri Morning Show” for many years on WLHT 95.7 FM. After their departure from W-Lite, Dave and Geri started their own podcast. Actually I think after they left WLHT, Dave and Geri ended up in mornings at 105.3 HOT FM for a short time, then the...

I just talked to Henry at John Arguello’s funeral visitation a few weeks ago. He’s working a part time schedule at WOOD now. Henry has been at WOOD since 1970. Is there anyone else in TV as an on air news talent with similar longevity at one station?

Darla Jaye cancer battle makes national news

Former Grand Rapids radio talent Darla Jaye has been fighting breast cancer. Her treatment included 30 days of radiation therapy. Village Inn (laser disc karaoke), Mr. Fables...
The Village Inn on 44th Street is still there. Unfortunately, Mr. Fable's is long gone. I could go for a Mr. Fab and onion rings right now.

Anyone remember the Reptile House?
I never went there, but I certainly do remember it. Didn't they have a water main break that flooded the place?

Re: Looks like the Orbit Room is finally toast; share your memories here!

I saw Jackyl there. That night, Jesse James Dupree carved the word "Orbit" into the top of a wooden stool during "The Lumberjack."

I also saw Mustard Plug open for Weird Al Yankovic there.

Prior to Orbit Room, it was Club Eastbrook. Prior to that, it was a movie theater.
