In my lifetime I’ve had the pleasure of watching some of the greats cover sports- Eli, Don, Bernie. I even have faint memories of Al Ackerman. That being said, Dan is the greatest. Always enjoyed watching his sportscasts and think he does a great job with the Lions!

I felt same- bummed that Windsor stations not included. Then again be careful what we wish for. They could all become religious/ethnic stations. Then you really have wasted frequencies.

I’m a Sparty and a Valenti fan. Just seemed like there wasn’t as much excitement as there could be about the Michigan win. I do believe the sign stealing cast a cloud over this team and their accomplishment. That being said, they did seem like a legitimate, talented team.

OTA would be great. Seems like the Tigers could build their audience. Back in the 1990’s the Tigers had some of the highest TV ratings in the country.

I feel like WDZR was about to take off in the ratings. Their hard rock / hair band format did great at first. WOWF was the last run of the Fox (former WDFX.). We knew the format flip was coming. I still liked the CHR /Rock format of it’s predecessor, WDTX.

We should be doing cartwheels about this format change. An AM station flipping to something other than religious or super niche programming! I’m hoping it succeeds on some level. Like to see who they get for local talent.

This is a sad day for FM radio….only a matter of time before more FM stations flip to fringe formats. I agree with others- ever since the flip to country 93.1 has been dead to me. Still, would have liked to seen a new format- anything besides religious.

I remember Spike and Sarah on WXDG 105.1 “The Edge.” Was Spike on Buzz 95 WVIC in East Lansing too? Sorry to see him go. Just another reminder about how bleak the future of FM radio is.

HD radio was fun for a long time. 96.3 HD 2 planet (alt classics)…sunny 100.3 (10 years!)…deep cuts on 94.7…too bad that it didn’t work out. I remember WXCD. I was disappointed when WKSG flipped from the oldies format. WOMC was too much competition for KISS. Agree with another poster- WDZR was one of the greatest stations. I think the ratings were solid for a while. The Bear did ok for a bit too.

DTX was rock 40 around 1987. No wimpy funk, no metal junk. The New 99.5FM WDTX. That was my favorite format. They flipped to the Fox late July of 1988. Not sure if any/all are aware but thought I would share that Casey Kasem classic American Top 40 countdowns can be heard on the iheart app. They alternate in succession between the 70’s and 80’s. They also play year end countdowns too. Seems to be a limited number of episodes so you do hear repeats....

Just listened again today on IHeart app..still has jingles for WNIC HD2. Still no word back from WNIC but safe to say it’s gone from the FM dial. Not sure purpose of HD radio anymore.
