Re: Some surprises in GR winter '18 Nielsen Audio ratings...

Winter book comes out, and only two comments in two weeks. My friends, there is very little left of interest in corporate radio. Times they are a changing.

Re: Uh-oh....Producer Joe....

I think you mean HW is Chris, not Steve. Different person. But agreed, Greg and Chris are pretty stand up guys. Feel bad for them the last couple of years have been pretty tough with this kind of stuff going on with their show.

Re: New owner of River Bank Run: Russ Hines

One thing that struck me after all the press releases and fanfare from 5/3... that this event was actually a partnership with OLD KENT (a LOCAL Bank) for the majority of it's existence - until it got bought out by 5/3. I just found it a bit disengenous as there was ZERO mention of that in the histor...

Re: Alt 101.3 on the way.

I am not a MIllenial, and I also only listen to NPR and Podcasts these days as well. Once in a VERY great while if NPR has a weekend show on I will turn on WOODAM or possibly WJRW for news at the top of the hour. I only do this if NPR isn't offering news at that time. As soon as the news is over, I ...

Re: Muskegon spring ratings - WMRR & WLAW fall off a cliff!

One thing of note here. I think WFFR has been on a couple of years, Where WUVS has been on for almost 15 years. Not sure how much either of these stations "Market". Is the goal of these stations to have big numbers - I would be curious as to find out what the MO is for these stations actually is. No...

Re: Muskegon spring ratings - WMRR & WLAW fall off a cliff!

Iheart and cumulus have all basically given up on the Muskegon and they did long ago. The fact that all of these stations have only a combined total of 30% tells you how much the community thinks of them as well. They are almost worthless. Muskegon isn't big enough to pull off the small town media t...

Serious question -

how do you pull anybody away when you have a company that's that deep in debt and has no cash?

Re: Is 101.3 next?

With a signal is big and with as much heritage as 101.3 had/has, short of the early days when it was Aris, Alison, Big Richard, Ranger Bob and Bob and Tom (In the glory days) the station has been totally squandered by Iheart. If anyone local were ever to get their hands on it, it would do much, much...

Re: WGRD's sloppy automation during weekends (UPDATE: PD Johnnie Walker has apparently been fired.)

Apply now to be part of the sinking ship known as corporate radio. No job security, no promotions, no raises, no recognition, no autonomy, no creativity, no flexibility and if you stray from the corporate playlist or don't make 15 mandatory blog posts a week full of bullshit - you're fired. What an ...

Re: 2016 Revenue estimates - GR Radio

Short answer is, they can't with the debt load of the parent companies. Could you imagine if WBCT was still locally owned? They could have a full time air staff on all dayparts, all the promotions, marketing, sales staff and still be hauling in some serious coin. Instead it all gets blown on debt. i...

Re: 2016 Revenue estimates - GR Radio

There was a time, and others will be able to verify that WBCT billed nearly 10 Million consecutive years in a row. Anyone that says radio isn't slipping is in total denial.

For those that were hoping this would be a real benefit to the Muskegon Community looks like they were sold a bill of goods. This whole thing has shades of a Roy Henderson.

Re: Curtis Gone At WLHT

Rumor has it that he was asked to leave, and it wasn't a good situation. Ratings/Budget were not the reason. My understanding is that there were some conflicts and a straw broke a camels back somewhere. Good luck to all in the future.

Re: WGVU-AM Real Oldies back to NPR

Don't get me wrong - I want it to succeed and stay on the air! Just been seeing and hearing things lately about some decisions being made over there that were concerning. Personally, I love the format and glad it's still here. I was trying not to name names, but one of the people on the airstaff - W...

WGVU-AM Real Oldies back to NPR

Well, it looks like WGVU-AM is heading back (at least partially) to NPR programming, abandoning the Oldies Format at least in the Mornings, and likely other dayparts. A station with a real niche potential doesn't appear it's going to make it. A lot of reasons for it (poor management, poor airstaff d...
