Their set is even nicer than WZZM's.

Now if only they would update their logo to be a bit more imaginative.
I always liked their old school "rainbow" logo. I can't even remember the last time I saw that one (80s or 90s?)

Re: Is 96.7 WUPG Republic on or off the air?

What I don't understand is why they have a 96.7 in BOTH Marquette and Republic. Somewhere in between you can hear both stations fighting each other with the exact same station and it's quite annoying!! A smart station manager/owner/whoever-makes-the-plan would grasp a better understanding of surroun...

I can't speak for WTIQ as I can't receive it, but I was scanning the band the other day and WUPG and WMXG were playing the same song at the same time.

Re: Marquette's 94.9 97.1 and 107.7

It finally, finally hit me today about what I can't handle about Q107. The current music is basically, to me, Hot AC. It's the old songs! The gold played is all over the road, the "instant requests" don't fit the format (1970s, 1980s stuff) and while Q107 will not play a current rock song, if any a...

Re: Country Stations

Most of the new stuff is garbage in my opinion. I can only take so much "Luke Bryan Country" before I lose my lid. It feels like 9 out of 10 songs that come on the radio all have the same processed beats, riffs, and lyrics, just being sung by the first singer they find to do it. It's about as real a...

Re: WNMU to move to RF8...will this create more problems?

WLUC has the dumbest antenna setup since the transition over to digital. They used to run full-power on RF6, which curved around the land a lot better as it seemed. Now they are nowhere near full-power on RF35, and UHF doesn't curve around or go through things nearly as well. Republic really isn't t...

Re: CBC-Montreal on cable in Northeast MI

CBC Montreal is also available in the Central UP Charter Spectrum cable, though not in HD. Hockey Night in Canada would be so much better in HD!! I don't remember if there is any French programming associated with it since it is coming from Montreal. If there is then maybe there is a small draw for ...

Re: Top 40's and in-store music surveys.

I totally forgot about the Telephone Time bit they did. I think our local WJPD 92.3 used to have something similar to that as well. I don't remember details for sure because back then I didn't like country music, but that was my dad's go-to station in the car. Way back in the "Country Giant" days. I...

Re: Top 40's and in-store music surveys.

As long as we are talking about back in the day...does anybody remember what WIKB 99.1 from Iron River used to be? I think their actual format was oldies, but depending on the evening of the week they played 80s/90s music, big band, country (before and up to the annual rodeo), and even hard rock/met...

Re: 98.7 The Rockin' Eagle

I still have the same complaint since day one with 98.7, and that is to give us a translator station in the Marquette area. With the terrain it is way to hit or miss around here. Eagle, if you're listening, keep up the good work and hook us up!!!

Re: WDHS Iron Mountain

Doesn't TV-6 have a digital translator on RF 14 to serve the Marquette area? Which station is worse in the Marquette area when it comes to over-the-air reception, WLUC or WBUP? They do. They switched from analog 7 to digital 14 and increased the power. Funny thing is in my location in Negaunee Twp....

Re: WDHS Iron Mountain

11/19/2015, to be precise. It's about time. I wonder how many full-power commercial VHF allocations are vacant east of the Mississippi. There can't be many. Time for WLUC to consider moving its RF signal from 35 to 8. With the latest TV reallocation potentially eliminating everything above RF 36, W...

Re: 1240 WIAN Ishpeming, MI

Called station this morning. Receptionist knew radio! 1240 WIAN is off! Waiting for transmitter part and will get station up and running ASAP! Many people calling concerning this, so AM isn't dead yet! I am surprised at this point that they haven't tried to go FM, or at least consolidate 1240 and 1...

Re: 98.7 Escanaba

http://www.northpine.com/broadcast/mi/radio.html shows it's owned by Great Lakes Radio. Used to be a translator for WPFF. Transaction in Dec 2014. I'm thinking when WPFF went to Air1/KLove, this didn't. That makes sense. We had two WPFF translators around here (99.9 and 106.1.) What do you know, th...

Re: Mini DXpedition

It is quite a shame that shortwave isn't what it used to be. It feels like everything is religious broadcasters now...like we can't get an overdose of that on AM/FM radio today. My first memory of shortwave radio was probably late 80s as a teen I bought a Sony ICF-SW20 pocket-sized analog shortwave ...
