Re: Nasty Tropospheric Ducting today

Wish I was up north to join in on the fun! In Manistee, some of the Milwaukee stations (99.1 and 100.7 particularly) can get very strong at times

The funniest thing here is Peashooter 104.9 beats 50Kw 107.3 that reaches from Muskegon to Lansing.
And it's done so three of the last four books!

They should just hand the license into the FCC and be done with it.
And then leave WCXI in Fenton

Ahoy matey!

While driving through downtown Ypsilanti tonight, I heard a rap pirate on 97.7. It was strongest on Hamilton near Emmet and Washtenaw, and completely gone by Michigan. Sounded a little too strong to be a Part 15 station.

Re: 2018 Miscellaneous Tropos

Over in Ypsilanti, I've received the following using an indoor antenna:
WEWS (5.1, RF 15)
WLNS (6.1, RF 36)
CBET (9.1, RF 9) [subdecode]
WILX (10.1, RF 10) [subdecode]
WOSU (34.1, RF 38)
WUPW (36.1, RF 49)
WADL (38.1, RF 39)

Re: WYPV/WJML

I wonder if they've repaired the WYPV transmitter? The station has been operating for way over a year at really low power. It needs major repairs and apparently they didn't have the money to fix it. The coverage has been much less than licensed coverage, but if no one complains, the FCC doesn't car...

I don't know about 6:30, but 11:00 is pre-recorded. Uses the same set as 7&4.
I thought the news on 29&8 were taped on a separate set

Very briefly. I think it started when Today expanded to four hours

Re: Channel 7 signal?

To ftballfan: Unfortunately, the FCC completely dropped the ball when determining VHF power levels. Fox 2, which actually broadcasts on RF channel 7 (but is remapped via PSIP as "2-1"), probably should've been given 60 kW with which to broadcast. Instead, it was given a paltry 27 kW. Toward Ann Arb...

Re: Channel 7 signal?

I'm in Ypsilanti in an apartment and I've had little to no problem getting the UHF locals on an indoor antenna. WJBK is another story (it also doesn't help that the window the antenna is near faces away from Detroit)

Re: baraboo/madison

I picked up WOLX in the Grand Rapids area a few times during the 90's. 94.1 WJJO was another Madison area station I picked up; I believed I heard them on two occasions. i remember once I thought I had JJO, and instead I was hearing KRNA from Iowa City! Speaking of KRNA, last fall I picked them up i...

Re: baraboo/madison

Ah, I figured you meant something more like that as opposed to the big superpower stations like WBCT that actually get out. I was going to ask the engineer about that, but checked Doug's site instead - http://www.w9wi.com/articles/grand_fm.htm - where it lists all the superpower stations that have ...

Earlier this morning,106.3 now owned by the WJML folks, was airing WIXX Green Bay.101.1 here in TC was airing 'JML.

Was kind of hoping to hear "Fife" this afternoon assuming he is still at that station.
Tropo strikes! WWMN must be picking up 101.1 over the air

Re: baraboo/madison

When I lived in Manistee, I picked it up a couple of times, when WKZC was either off or on low power.

Also, WOLX is in the Class B zone, which has lower power/height maximums than Class C.

Do they have more than one Public Radio Station? Do you know anything about one that they have, (I assume) now? Does BYU have a presence on the Salt Lake City airwaves?
