Re: Blarney Stone Broadcasting and Roy Henderson

The Mainstream AC format of today is basically rehashed CHR songs from the last couple of years

Re: Old cable lineups

Another cable lineup from Wyandotte's system, this one over two years later from my previous post on this system. This was their first lineup after the city-wide rebuild and channel realignment. At the time, it was a big deal in Wyandotte since that meant that I was finally going to get additional ...

Re: Blarney Stone Broadcasting and Roy Henderson

This might be an odd tangent but is Blarney Stone Broadcasting related to The Blarney Stone Group that owns several gas stations / convenience stores in The Northern Lower Peninsula and the U.P? You're thinking Blarney Castle. No relation between Blarney Stone and Blarney Castle (Blarney Castle has...

Re: 98.7 Song Requests

Some suggestions (arranged by artist): ABBA: Fernando, The Winner Takes It All Agnetha Faltskog: I Wasn't the One Who Said Goodbye (ft. Peter Cetera; likely would have been a top 10 hit if Cetera were the lead artist; when this song came out, Cetera was white hot) Barry White: Practice What You Prea...

Re: The New Jethro FM

I listened to Jethro on my way out of Grand Rapids on Friday and one of the songs they played was "Take It to the Limit" by the Eagles. Not a country song per se, but sounds closer to country than most of that bro country that populates country music radio today

Re: JQ99 rebrands to "Joy99"

Just in time for the holiday season... I've noticed that JQ99 (Christian AC WJQK Zeeland) is now calling themselves Joy99. There doesn't seem to be too many other changes, other than a revamped jingle package and maybe a bit of a brighter music selection... I noticed that last night while going thr...

Re: Holy Winter Tropo Blasters!

Here is what I got in Manistee, mostly in my car while waiting to go into the bars while out last night: 89.1 WLKB (not unusual, but strong enough to stop seek and trigger RDS) 90.9 WTCK (over WUPJ and WHRM) [NEW! surprisingly] 92.7 with country music (likely CJBX, which would be new here) 93.1 WDRQ...

Re: Blarney Stone Broadcasting and Roy Henderson

I was up in Kaleva yesterday afternoon and 92.3 WBNZ was broadcasting CBS Sports Radio // to 101.1 WGRY (which I was surprisingly able to get there considering WIXX and WJML's translator). 92.3 was about 5-10 seconds behind 101.1. 99.3 WQAN was // to 100.3 WQON (which was mixing with WNCY). 92.3 has...

Re: Blarney Stone Broadcasting and Roy Henderson

Where is 99.3 broadcasting from (I'm guessing somewhere in/near Traverse City)? I got a 99.3 playing Van Hagar's Right Now last night coming home from a basketball game. That song is not something WOWN in Shawano would play. How much are 99.3 and 100.3 delayed? I tried checking 100.3, but it was all...

Re: Breaking: Nexstar reaches agreement to purchase Tribune

Grand Rapids is way too large of a market for Northwest Broadcasting (most of their markets are smaller than Traverse City-Cadillac and some are smaller than Marquette)

Re: Cable systems that do not carry all network affiliates from their home DMA

Buckeye in Bedford, MI still doesn't carry WTVS despite that system adding both WWJ and WMYD in recent years. Kind of ironic in that WTVS is one of two stations from Detroit that could be carried fully in Toledo (CBET is the other). However, both of Toledo's PBS members (WGTE and WBGU [WBGU's only c...

Re: Cable systems that do not carry all network affiliates from their home DMA

Charter Spectrum systems in Sturgis and Coldwater (Grand Rapids DMA) don't carry WZZM or WGVU. Charter Spectrum in Clare (Traverse City-Cadillac DMA [mostly]) doesn't carry WGTU, but carries all the Big Four from Flint-Saginaw and the other Big Four stations (and WXII-LP!!) from Traverse City-Cadill...

Re: Towns that should be in other DMAs

Pentwater and Walkerville (and maybe even Hart) in Oceana County, as well as some townships in northern Newaygo County, should be in the Traverse City-Cadillac DMA. If not for WZZM having its stick near Grant and 29&8 being a joke of an ABC affiliate with a stick near Kalkaska to boot, Oceana County...
