Re: Goodbye to 92.1 The Team

"Lansing's Lazer" (WLNZ AM/FM) and "The Edge" (WWDX) are the ONLY attempts at noteworthy, successful programming on this rimshot frequency. I'll give an honorable mention to the late Chuck Dees' attempt at CHR "without the DJ's" too, but other than that, every spin of the format wheel has been far w...

Re: WPON Update - 2018

I think they turn it off at 5:00. Last Night about 7:00 PM, I was hearing three signals fading in and out, one was Sports, one was Country, and one was Spanish Language. Couldn't ID any of them for sure. WBNS was probably the Sports station, WKAM was probably the Spanish Language station. Country w...

[quote Do any of you forum members know this clown Sima or have you ever worked for him? Maybe you can shed some light on the mystery of how this company functions if it does. Re: WJR stale weather forecasts

WJR doesn’t air local news past around 7 so that doesn’t surprise me. I thought they were required to have a warm body at all times though, being the EAS station. Last night, at Midnight, the Westwood One network news and a long commercial stop-set were playing at the same time. We can poo poo this...

Re: WJR stale weather forecasts

Cruddy is one thing. Outdated is another. What's truly frightening is that WJR is the primary EAS station for the region. It calls credibility into question. However, knowing this board, I am sure some bean counter, or smug apologist, will be along shortly to explain how forecasts and alerts are two...

WJR stale weather forecasts

Well, it's half past 10:00PM, and this is the second forecast I've heard from Andrew Humphrey on WJR saying "bring your sunscreen this evening, the Tigers play the White Sox at 7:05" :rollin

So who's monitoring 'JR at this hour? For that matter, is anyone "Live" on WDRQ or WDVD?

I agree, good RIDDENCE. :lol While we're correcting spelling, it's RIDDANCE. :razz Yep. You got me on that one. :rollin I don't know who produced the Calley radio spot, but I have never heard something so amateurish. Even Snyder's 1 sentence endorsement sounded like it was recorded in a tiled bathr...

Re: 97.5 Now FM kicks i92.9's ass by EIGHT FULL SHARES!!!

35 years ago, Lansing was a very active and fun market, with great stations and personalities. Passing through there today, compared to the 80's, it sounds bush league. Even the rimshot FMs are in "retrograde" compared to when they were upgraded and moved into the market. Perhaps we should send some...

Re: WDTK 101.5 Translator

As of this writing, I am hearing the French station from Sarnia loud and clear. No trace of WDTK. With that being the case, it seems I would also hear CHKS on 106.3, but it's entirely covered up by K-Love. I suspect K-Love is cheating again.

Re: Sad news coming out of Jackson (K-105.3)

Very sad indeed, and I agree, there must be a lot more backstory to this. Didn't WKHM lose another young morning show co-host who was killed in a crash while enroute to the station awhile back?

Re: Anyone Recall If WBRB Towers Were Ever At Hayes/Hall Roads?

If you can find Bill Hennes on Facebook, he may have some memory of this, as he worked at WBRB in the '60's. I believe Gilda Radner's cousin who you refer to is Leigh Feldstein. He was GM at WBRB when they were WWHK.

WDTK 101.5 Translator

101.5 is getting hammered this morning by a French Canadian station. Usually, the culprit is WRVF Toledo. (Yep, what a great signal) Where in Ontario is there a French station on 101.5?

Re: WLW translator

In my location re: WDTK, my experience is different than yours, Colonel. After dark, AM 1400 is completely useless in the house or in the car. During the daytime, AM 1400 is a tough catch indoors due to unwanted AM band noise. 101.5 MHz comes in crystal clear for me 24/7, including indoors. I've ne...

Re: WLW translator

The WLW translator actually translates WKFS HD2 Milford, OH. Translators, in my listening experience, are nearly useless unless you are stationary. I enjoy the John McCullough Show on WDTK. Try listening to 101.5 while driving sometime. With Cincinnati's hilly terrain, the WLW translator is even mor...

I couldn't agree more. Take this crapola over to the Pol-Pot forum, for godsakes. If that pirate station was there once, it will be there again. That's a pretty safe bet.

Has 1090 ever had a successful, profitable format?
Yes. It was definitely a moneymaker when Walter Wolpin owned it. It had a "block programming" format, and even at night, there were few open time slots.
