Re: The MAGA Party

I think we also need a separate political party for the former Democrats (because the Party really isn't Democatic) who are not insane, Democrats Who Are Still Sane, that would balance things out.

Re: Review: Cheap $17 portable radio with 7-band SW from Menards; how well does it work?

For a while, Sony and Panasonic were putting the same chips in several levels and price ranges of radios, like the Sony Shower Radio, which outperformed much more expensive radios on AM. Not sure what the FM problem was, but it could have been antenna related.

Re: I'm stumped

Tropo favors certain distances and directions, usually. It's like you have a radio mirror at a certain direction and midpoint. Think what you could see with an optical mirror in the same place. There may be a larger or smaller mirror or more than one in different directions and midpoints.

Have you seen that self supporting 3 tower inline array yet? It’s the 1300. I think WVLK and WLAP are 4 tower parallelograms.

We're Ahead Of The Curve Again On TV Antennas!

TV Antennas are the latest thing for young adults as well as older Americans. Next rage will be the resurgence of landlines. Vacuum tubes are still very much alive and hot in guitar amplifiers, and Russian avionics. Spooks are using typewriters and snail mail for secret communications. What's next? ...

Re: Fm translators

Remember listening at WVIC 730 as a kid....had a nice top 40 format and a great daytime signal In the History Card for WVIC...WVFN, it shows that WGN objected to the application for 730. Not may details, so I don’t know how it was resolved. WITL 1010 was close to WCFL...WMVP overlap also. But the h...

WJRW is owned by Cumulus.

WVFN is owned by Townsquare.
It's had to keep track of all the changes. Some of those translator applications go that far back, to when they were coowned.

Re: Fm translators

They’re working on a rebuild at KAAY, so they’re spending money. They just finished the WJRW build out.

Re: Most distant AM/FM/TV signal you ever tuned in?

Most of us were introduced to Crystal Set DX by accident. Usually it happens with the 8-16 years old experimenter who has received or built a crystal type set. We should have realized that AM BC DX was possible when the "Voice Of America signing off from Greenville, North Carolina" started coming th...

Re: Most distant AM/FM/TV signal you ever tuned in?

WNOB 107.9, now WENZ, was my very FIRST true DX log on FM. But nowhere near the furthest. Growing up in Central Genesee County, there were few local FMs at the time, but a lot from Detroit Birmingham Dearborn Windsor, Lansing East Lansing, and Saginaw Bay City Midland, and other towns in between, La...

Re: Aurora Borealis AM BCB DX Pilots

I should have specified BCB, but its good to look at WWV/H 2500 kHz, CHU 3330 kHz, WWV/H 5000 kHz, CFRX 6070 kHz, CHU 7850 kHz, and WWV/H 10000 kHz.

Aurora Borealis AM BCB DX Pilots

The Northern Lights have been predicted tonight. Some of my predictive DX Pilots. Signs of impending display. All nearby stations will have nearly Daytime signal condiions (Groundwave) with Night facilities. Here's some to note in SE MI. 600 WSNL No cochannel QRM from WMT and CKAT. 730 WVFN No cocha...

WKQZ Signal

How is the signal on WKQZ in Saginaw and the South part of the Tri Cities Market? Does it have a noticeably weaker signal there?

Is there significant listening in the areas from Pinconning to West Branch and beyond? Do they get significant revenue from the Northern regions?
