Re: Blarney Stone Petitions FCC to cancel WLDR license

* Henderson and his team advising that although the programming ceased on 10/24/2019, the actual transmission did not, since electrical power remained intact. Electric bills are provided to document consumption of juice. And that 11/2/2020 was the resumption of programming, using the STA specificat...

Re: Is Anyone Focusing on 105.3 HOT FM?

There RDS has been stuck on "JUSTIN" for a couple of weeks now no matter where you are at in Grand Rapids and including a moment out in the Coopersville area where their tower is located. Have they not noticed something like this? The tower is located in rural Grant actually, 10 miles south of Frem...

Re: 106.7 on the air?

I wonder if this is connected to 92.5 from Atlanta? They broadcast low-fi instrumental rap style music with an ID at the top of the hour. It's awful to listen to, but sometimes they treat you to dead air. I think it has been well established in this thread that it is on 106.7, 92.5, and 98.3, as th...

Re: Cleveland Indians considering name change

Actually, it seems that the MLB had previously trademarked the name Cleveland Citizens for sales of apparel, etc. back on August 17th. Sometimes that happens, just like in radio how they might buy a domain for a suspected station name but not use it, and it's just in case. But who knows?

Re: 106.7 on the air?

What type of audio compressor are you using between receiver and recorder? I'm just using a Grundig G8 portable radio connected to a recorder. It switches to stereo at 10dB, which is still rather early for it to switch from mono to stereo, so you can hear that static sound (if you could call it tha...

Re: 106.7 on the air?

This is NOT the format. Otherwise, why would it be on 92.5 also? They're just preserving the licenses by not being silent.. Oh no, I'm just saying that "techno" music and lo-fi are drastically different, unless they actually were airing techno music before the lo-fi, then that's different. I admire...

Re: 106.7 on the air?

Here's an 18-minute clip of the station I recorded yesterday before the snow arrived. As for the content, it's essentially StreamBeats Radio, without using the actual name. Every song is created by Harris Heller (a lot of Shazam attempts will show 8 or 9 previous Shazams on a song, which you'd think...

Re: 91.5 / 91.7 Manistee

Thanks for the info. My Manistee bandscan on 5/27/18 had Manistee on 91.5 with 91.7 being WXPR and WQQA. But my scan in the same location on 5/26/19 had it on 91.7 with WICA and WJOH on 91.5. I'm quite sure I heard WICA in my Ludington scan and in a rush - and I certainly was as it was cold and very...

91.5 / 91.7 Manistee

I know that 91.7 in Manistee is licensed to run on 91.5 but moved to 91.7 for... whatever unknown reason a year or two ago. I recently was taking a radio bandscan at my Ludington site at the end of September and without really thinking, noted that I had the Manistee religious station on 91.5 along w...

Re: Pirate?

The Frankenstein VHF-TV CH6 analog audio in Chicago broadcasts "METV" and has higher ratings than 50KW WLS - go figure. Isn't CH6 TV audio used also in Cleveland? Cleveland permanently lost their license somewhat recently and has moved online. They had been off the air for some time on and off in t...

Re: WPR Pulls Plug on HD Radio

A couple of years ago, they added an Ideas Network translator in Wausau (which I think is fed by WHRM-HD3) that covers much more area than WLBL-FM. WLBL-FM and WXPW are 54 watts with a HAAT of 255 meters. W267BB (the aforementioned Ideas Network translator) is 250 watts with a HAAT of 322 meters at...

Re: Distant stations on local AMs

It's not all that uncommon for that to happen. The high-powered skywave stations at night can break through local signals at night. 850 in Muskegon (WGVS-AM) is a local here in Fremont but KOA Denver, which was always the norm before the local appeared, can still be heard 20 miles away from WGVS's t...

Re: Memories FM

I caught this station in the null of Power 92 with its TOH ID on Saturday just south of Ludington. It wasn't the easiest station to find in the null as Power is a very intense signal there, but once I found the right spot, it was in pretty well. Certainly a much higher power than they were running l...

I guess the ground conducitvity on a sand due is so bad you can't hear ANY AM stations ?
Totally accurate! I could not hear any AM stations.

Of course, I did not turn my radio to AM mode... so I guess that is a better explanation than conductivity :razz

Re: Sleeping Bear Dunes Bandscans (600+ mi.)

The K-Love on 95.3 was likely KQKL Keokuk, IA [transmitter in MO] instead of WPCK overload. KQKL is 100kW on a former FM graveyard and I've heard it a couple of times this year down the road in Manistee. Also, WRVM's two translators in Sheboygan are basically redundant with the presence of WYVM (sp...
