Winter Sporadic E? Pirate? Spanish on 94.1 SE Michigan
Driving in SE MI this morning, I heard Spanish Language programming on 94.1. It quickly faded and I was hearing WHBC-FM 94.1 Canton, OH. Subsidiary Winter Sporadic E? Pirate? LP or Translator?

Re: Recent Video WKMF/WFNT/WGMZ/WCRZ Former Owner George H. Ross
One of George Ross' clients before joining the Trump Organization was real estate magnate George LeFrak. His daughter was Denise LeFrak, who was the inspiration for "Denise" by Randy and the Rainbows. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1RwciS3Cnc&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR2cL4rl0ffuW8NMJtu5athPvPdyX...

Re: CMU Sells Flint WCMZ-TV In FCC Spectrum Auction
The neighboring signals are all 40 or more miles away. All of their stations are now UHF, doesn't matter what channel they call it. Just the curvature of the earth makes them iffy. How they get the idea that those other three they mentioned having anything more than weak fringe OTA service makes me ...

Re: CMU Sells Flint WCMZ-TV In FCC Spectrum Auction
Wow. This is crazy. That signal could be sold to a commercial broadcaster as there is no "Educational Band" with TV. You plunk them, wherever. This should be the same with Radio, as is done in Canada. What would you do with it? Every major network is covered. They must've really wanted the 14 large...

Re: Recent Video WKMF/WFNT/WGMZ/WCRZ Former Owner George H.
I remember listening to WKMF 1470 sign off quite a few times, when they were 24 hours a day for 5 days a week, and signed off for maintenance on Sunday and Monday mornings. The sign off tape was voiced by Dick Bing as I recall. About 1968, I remember that the sign off tape said WKMF was owned and op...

Re: "This is purely a public safety issue."
Unfortunately many judges are former law enforcement officials that will side with cops rather than try to hear a case objectively. They take care of their own and protect their territory. There are certainly some judges with anger management issues. One business establishment I saw in Metro Detroi...

Re: "This is purely a public safety issue."
The man probably is at the mercy of a judge that will back up cops, and probably doesn't have money to pay a lawyer, which he should get. It seems unfair that someone with an expensive car with auto start should be able to do this with impunity, yet someone with an older car does not have this optio...

Re: "This is purely a public safety issue."
I would hope that this man would prevail in court. With the excessive number of lawyers in this country, someone should take this case pro bono. Otherwise, perhaps raise money for this guy online to pay for an attorney to represent him. What we have here is selective enforcement, and perhaps a repor...

Re: Recent Video WKMF/WFNT/WGMZ/WCRZ Former Owner George H.
I was looking up the history of the Carrells. They had seven portable stations when the FCC declared in 1928 that stations had to stay in one place. Basically, they left them in the towns where they were located when the decree came down. WCLC was named for the late founder, Charles L. Carrell who h...

Re: Recent Video WKMF/WFNT/WGMZ/WCRZ Former Owner George H.
Just did some research on the Drohlich/Drolich Brothers. They were from St. Louis, had several radio and TV stations (not listed in the obituary), and one ended up as the Mayor of Longboat Key, FL. He passed away just last year at the age of 99. WWOK was probably hindered in its early years due to t...

Re: Recent Video WKMF/WFNT/WGMZ/WCRZ Former Owner George H.
The 1470 facility has an interesting pedigree of owners. Originally it was WWOK, owned by some people named Drohlich (alternatively spelled Drolich with umlaut). Later, it was owned by the Carrell (not Carroll) family, of mobile station fame, out of Chicago, as WCLC. Apparently it was relicensed in ...

Recent Video WKMF/WFNT/WGMZ/WCRZ Former Owner George H. Ross
George H. Ross, the Ross of the Beck Ross Group, which bought WKMF (WFNT) in 1968 and WGMZ (WCRZ) in 1970, is interviewed recently about his more recent boss, Donald Trump, and his Presidential bid. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3ya9bc9e9Rs It was the Beck Ross Group which built the beautiful studio...

Re: WCBS-TV Video From 2001 Supports Trump Statement
Everybody but TV2 was off the air in New York and Patterson NJ, area. That is what I have heard. Plus, all the other stations got rid of the equipment that could have kept them on the air like WCBS-TV, so what would have stopped them from throwing out old news recordings? Studios move from place to...

Re: WCBS-TV Video From 2001 Supports Trump Statement
This appears to be taped off screen from a VHS tape. Remember that WCBS-TV was the only TV station on the air in New York City for a while. These kinds of videos probably would not be in the other station archives. Like libraries, TV stations probably throw out old stuff. Videos like this will proba...

Re: Snyder admin. willfully poisons Flint's water customers
I'd like to see ALL the city water systems tested independently and widely published. Competition for investment money and revenue from supplying water are both affected by the testing and decisions. Have you seen the level of security water plants and reservoirs require these days? In any event, I ...
