W224DT Port Huron

This new translator signed on recently on at 92.7 FM. Right now it is a rebroadcast of 96.9 WBTI . It is listed as a rebroadcast of 1590 WHLX so maybe it will change in the near future. As a result a portion of Lambton County can no longer receive BX 93 from London, Ontario without interference.

Re: Beautiful music stations

Many cities with more than one radio station had Beautiful Music at one time. Port Huron had WHLS-FM (107) until 1982 and London, ON had 1290 CJOE from 1967 up until 1972. By 1974 CKOT-FM from Tillsonburg went full powered and covered London along with a good portion of SW Ontario. I would imagine w...

Re: Best format on 102.7fm

I checked some old ratings for 102.7 and the highest one was a 3.7 back in 1981 when they were WLBS. By 1983 the numbers for 93 WDRQ and WJLB (FM 98) went up and WLBS was way down. Z-Rock had it's best ratings during 1992 and 1993, and then they fell sharply after that. Overall I would have to say t...

Re: Listening to WWJ on the road

Drive towards Port Huron on the I-94 and WWJ is weaker at 50 KW than it was with 5 KW from Southfield. Head east on Hwy #402 in Ontario and WWJ disappears. That bend to the northeast in their pattern is to protect 950 kHz in Barrie, Ontario. Now that Mississauga is getting a new radio station at 960...

Another option would for EMF to move the WDKL call letters from Masontown, PA to Detroit.

Re: DC area AM goes All-Digital

I'd like to know how far the 4.3 KW daytime signal carries now. The digital side of a hybrid digital station such as WWJ is only 500 watts max.

Re: Alt 106.7 - 6 months in

Los Angeles is one of the few exceptions where Alternative is beating Mainstream Rock in the ratings. I don't see it ever happening in Detroit.

Re: CIMX-FM coverage area

89x has mentioned Detroit traffic very recently. It's coverage area as far as marketing goes is still Windsor/Detroit. They might even outlast Alt 106.7

Re: CIMX-FM coverage area

I should also mention that the property on 1150 Ouellette Ave was the old Viscount Hotel which was torn down in the 1980's. This must have forced CJOM-FM to find another transmitter site. The fact that they became 100 KW from more than double the height from the new location makes up for being furth...

Re: CIMX-FM coverage area

From 1963 until the mid 1980's the old CKLW-FM was 50,000 watts at 567 feet from the old Channel 9 tower in downtown Windsor. CJOM-FM was 84,000 watts at 269 feet from 1150 Ouellette Ave in Windsor Now both 89x and The River are at 188.5 meters or 618 feet above average terrain with a directional an...

Re: New Rock 89X

I was flipping between 89x and Alt 106.7 last night. The winner in my opinion : 89x
The also continue to say "Windsor-Detroit" like they have for years so they might end up beating yet another competitor.

Re: Sarnia/Port Huron

The new rebroadcaster on 101.5 FM is CBEF-3-FM which carrries the same programming of CBEF 1550 AM in Windsor. Ici Radio-Canada Premiere is the French language version of CBC Radio One so CJBC Toronto along with the London transmitter oftens carries the same programming as CBEF Windsor. The Sarnia t...

Re: 102.7 WPZR to EMF (K-Love)

The construction permit appears to be designed to make it overcome RF intermod a little better. I wouldn't be surprised if WOMC and 105.9 WDMK mix together and wipe out 102.7 right now in Southfield and Oak Park. They might decide to just toss the C.P. since EMF did not apply for it anyhow.

Re: WMXD receiption

Maybe they're about to move WMXD up to 106.7 and then sell off 92.3 FM to K-Love (just my imagination). It is more than likely technical problems where they are running on an aux. backup until a part for the main transmitter arrives. That situation between 92.5 WVKS Toledo and 92.3 WMXD Detroit remi...

Re: NOAA weather radio increasingly becoming a laughing stock

The only thing going for that band is the weather alert function that some radios have. In Canada they transmit in both English and French even if you live where almost everyone speaks English. Both Sarnia and Chatham were poorly served by a tower halfway between the two towns for years. The problem...
