Re: MSU's football team might be better than many of us thought

It was a great win for Spartan fans no question. But what is says about the team I think will only be known in hindsight. These are NOT PREDICTIONS but a 5 loss season for State is not a stretch. They can lose to Michigan, seems likely they will lose to Ohio State and then they can lose a bowl game....

Re: Election Day predictions thread

I'm not big on predicting. But as I have mentioned before I am a middle of the road independent. I have what I think is a larger than average spread of friends and acquaintances on both sides of the political fence. It is my very anecdotal observation in my social media sphere that the liberals I kn...

Re: Rod and Mario officially gone

Getting rid of both made the most sense. Probably the safest too. For my purposes they can just shake the broadcaster tree and stick another couple bodies in there. I've watched countless games across the "big 4" sports spectrum from a bar stool without hearing the commentators at all. In fact didn'...

Re: John James Last Stand

Stabenow has been running 15 to 20 points ahead with a majority lead through the month of September and into October. Do you really think that kind of lead is going to fade on what voters already know or assume? He called it a " a last ditch Hail Mary commercial " so I'm pretty sure he doesn't expe...

Selective Outrage is a disease found rampant on both sides of the political fence.

Re: 51 Percent

This thread title also happens to apply to the vote that will take place at 4 PM tomorrow. Murkowski is a NO, but Collins and Manchin are both YES, and one republican Senator may abstain so he can attend a wedding. Final vote anticipated to be 50-49, or 51 percent. It may be a coincidence but its n...

Re: Conan

I grew up watching him at 12:30 and with Letterman and Leno both retired, this kind of feels like the final nail in the coffin of an era now gone. That era died for me when Johnny Carson retired :blink  Years ago I read an essay titled "The Golden Age of Television". The writer suggested the g...

Re: Americans Know What They Saw and Heard

I saw a couple people I don't trust. My opinions..... Kavanaugh: While his emotional demeanor could be understandable if he is innocent (something I tend to doubt) it was unprofessional for the job he is applying for. He did not answer questions well in general, and embarrassingly dodged the FBI inv...

Apparently vodka doesn’t make your breath smell - like most other alcoholic drinks.
Thats simply not true. Because its basically flavorless its less smelly than say, bourbon/scotch/whisky but it still contains as much alcohol which is the actual giveaway.

Re: All 3 statewide ballot proposals should be voted down

I'm a tentative yes on 1. My reluctance is knowing the pot I'm "approving" is nothing like the stuff I smoked in the 70's. I know the state could use the money, people are smoking it anyway, and the smidge of libertarian in me thinks maybe it is Government overreach to criminalize it. Having said th...

Re: Sexual assault allegations against Judge Kavanaugh

I am not a fan of the guy and hope they move on to a better candidate. But I have to laugh a bit about my left leaning pals concerned about impartiality. While nearly 50% of all Supreme court votes are 9-0 the second most common is 5-4 at 18%. While I haven't looked up the actual stat I think its sa...

Re: Uber

My wife and I have 5 adult daughters and 5 sons-in laws , all in their early to mid 30's. They all do not hesitate to use Uber whenever it suits them. The two in Chicago probably use Uber multiple times a week. Somewhere out there I'm sure there are bad people who are Uber drivers but they are few a...

Re: Sexual assault allegations against Judge Kavanaugh

Certainly not since the GOP Senators went the chickenshit route and brought in a surgeon to dissect this woman. Make no mistake Mitchell was brought in because she knows the exact buttons to press. It wasn't chickenshit it was the right thing to do. The reason for hearings like this is to hopefully...

Re: Sexual assault allegations against Judge Kavanaugh

The problem with that analogy is that in a job interview, you don't normally have thousands or maybe even millions of people actively working to prevent you from getting that job. The more people who don't want you to have it, the higher the likelihood of false baggage showing up. Of course there i...

Re: Sexual assault allegations against Judge Kavanaugh

I heard an interesting comment on the radio this morning that really resonated with me. It sort of went........ This isn't a criminal trial where burdens of proof and presumptions of innocence are in play. This is essentially a job interview. In the normal world at some point if a job applicant seem...
