Re: New meteorologist for Storm Team 8 or temporary fill-in for Ellen?

Surprised they didn't borrow someone from WLNS like how Blake originally appeared on WOOD.

Re: Fox 17 morning news expanding

Along with the time shift for Morning News also appears to come the elimination of Midday News and Unfiltered. But new is a half hour Scripps News Live at 1pm (going against NBC News Daily). If Unfiltered is counted as news, 17 has eliminated 2 hours of local news and added one. Honestly wouldn't be...

Re: Fox 17 Loses Anchor to WXYZ

Ruta said she is from Detroit so I cannot blame her for moving home. Detroit is where her family settled after leaving Lithuania. WXYZ, like WXMI, is a Scripps owned station so some of her reports may air on Fox17 like two Fox17 alumni now working at WXYZ: Darren Cunningham and Sarah Grimmer w(now k...

Fox 17 morning news expanding

WXMI has been running promos that the weekday Morning News will be on from 5-10 beginning September 11. Currently is on from 4:30-9am. Just saw a Morning Mix promo that its time is changing from 9-10 to 1o-11. With Midday News at 11-12, this will put Fox17 live and local for seven consecutive hours....

Fox17 getting new set

Being an early riser, I noticed that Fox17 was doing their morning news this morning from the newsroom (similar setup that Unfiltered has been using with the vertical monitor). At the start of the 5am hour, substitute anchor Robb Westaby mentioned the different look was due to their current set bein...

Re: Scott Winters signing off?

Scott posted today on his Facebook page on Monday he will start as Operations Manager at WYCE. Nice job sleuths on figuring out where he was going from the hints.

What did he do out in California?
Obit says he pastored churches out there. No specifics on denominations or cities.

Re: Scott Winters signing off?

My guess? He's headed to WYCE. Aren't their studios in a former library on GR's west side? They (WYCE and GRTV, collectively known as the GR Community Media Center) occupy space on the second floor of GRPL's Westside Branch. And last I knew, Phil Tower was still in his second stint there as WYCE st...

Scott Winters signing off?

Earlier today Scott Winters posted on his blog that he will be signing off from doing afternoons on WFGR after his March 24 airshift. Scott says he had been working three jobs (real estate, FedEx plane loading, WFGR) and as a result was diagnosed with exhaustion. Scott didn't say what he will be doi...

Re: Bill Freeman

I too remember The Freeman File. He often picked on Suzanne Geha. He later was on WGVU-FM but was eventually let go. I remember a GR Press article quoting Bill about it and he felt that his liberal leanings clashed with the West Michigan Conservative mindset. Eventually he pastored Interfaith Congre...

Re: COZI-TV apparently on the sidelines, for now...

What do you recommend indoor or outdoor TV antenna? Blendon/Georgetown/Hudsonville area? Not sure if they still sell them but during the analog to digital transition (analog ceased in 2009), I remember seeing at Gemmen's in Hudsonville a rooftop antenna that had multi-direction antennas mounted on ...

In reading Aris' biography, am I reading it correctly that, except for his first gig which was in Lansing, he only ever worked at stations in Grand Rapids?

Re: the old WJPW-AM 810

I miss the former WaY-FM 89.9. Wasn't a big fan of the music personally, but that station had quality air staff, quality imaging, and great sounding audio. I never understood why Cornerstone didn't attempt to improve coverage into Ottawa County, which is an area where that programming likely would'...
