Darrin Rockcole

Darrin Rockcole longtime morning WILX meteorologist is no longer with the station. He gave no explanation on his Facebook page other then stating he plans to stay in the Lansing area. David Andrews wished him a happy retirement on his Facebook page, however, since Darrin is only 54 it seems suspect.

Re: WILX new subchannels

As more people cut the cord it will be interesting to see if WILX decides to invest in a repeater south of Jackson to gain over the air coverage in Hillsdale County which is part of their official coverage area, but mostly only watchable with cable or satellite. WLNS Also does not cover that area an...

Re: WILX new subchannels

WILX is now using WLNM as a repeater to improve reception in Lansing and Clinton County. They have also added an additional TCT subchannel (10.7, 27.7). Unsure if they have increased power to 15kW. They have an application to move it to channel 29 with non-directional antenna. https://www.wilx.com/c...

Re: YouTube TV dropping FSD

FSD will eventually be back on YouTube TV. This happens all the time with satellite providers and TV station websites saying contact your provider and demand you carry their channel. Another sign of how Sinclair screws up everything... YouTube TV says it’ll be dropping Fox Sports Detroit later toda...

Re: FCC repack

With a small outdoor omni antenna Just north of Lansing I can get 4 UHF (17 when at full power, 41, 43, 64), but not 3, 8, or 13. (Using virtual channels for clarity) 13 would be difficult even if it were on UHF as its stick is in southwestern Newaygo County. The Flint/Saginaw UHFs would be much ea...

Re: WILX new subchannels

Is ION in high-definition? In any event, it's good to hear that ION is once again available in the Lansing area over-the-air. (I presume WZPX is now difficult to pick up off-air in the Lansing area following its move to extreme western Barry County.) Ion is 480 on WILX. I can still get WZPX over th...

Re: LAV STA/application status

The odd thing about the Soo stations under STA (99.5 WYSS and 105.5 WMKD) is that they have a sister station (101.3 WSUE) still operating at 100kW
Not so odd since WSUE uses a different tower.

Any idea where the transmitter is located? From the other reports, I'd guess NW of the city.
WATT tower southside of town.
