Re: Unique Radio Experiences
[quote=Bobbert post_id=575358 time=1560296518 user_id=14816] - - The last broadcast of Ernie Harwell and Paul Carey from Baltimore in 1991. That alone would have made it unique, but the emotion of the moment blended with the emotion of the closing of Baltimore's Memorial Stadium. Both Paul and Ernie...

Re: Wow, 9&10, Just Wow...
A news/talk radio station where I worked would have live casts on, holiday mornings till 10 a.m., ran a rotation of canned reports through noon, then loaded the 5-minute network casts into the automation from 12 p.m. on. The same station now has no local news content on Sundays. Things change, or ap...

Janet Mason to Retire...
I never worked at WZZM, but I have seen plenty of comment pass on the Buzzboard over the years about how she moved the pieces around off 3 Mile, mostly knocking their results in the ratings and regarding their on-air product.

Re: Calm down Matt Sheppard
Shepard, by shrieking about the successes is only walking through a door jamb that had the barrier blown off its hinges by Dan Dickerson. DD's first preseason Tigers broadcast, a journeyman named Mike Kinkade hits a homer against Detroit and you'd have thought a Triple Crown had been secured by the ...

Re: What WJR Could Change In The Future.
OK then, Mega Hertz, how about "but what about Paul Carey on Pistons games?" Before there was Blaha, Paul had a few years in the Bing-Lanier-George "Instant Heat" Trapp era and his last year courtside was in Isiah/Tripucka's rookie season. I listened to plenty of WJR in those days, they were somethi...

Re: Fun piece on WILS turning 70
That would explain my running into Andy Mac at Paul Revere's around the time he started in Lansing. The MacDonalds had asked me many questions about the WILS operation when I worked for them in Cadillac, based on my LS-102 part-timing in '84. I didn't realize there was another entity there, between ...

I remember him from the Bonney Motors ads. We lived about three miles apart in Comstock Park. RIP, Tom. A life well lived.

Hard to say if WSGW out of Saginaw, at 790 could be received on a table radio in Flint.

Re: WNEM TV 5 Plus & box office
Two meetings tonight in Grand Rapids, one for a new GR Public Schools superintendent, the other for public comment on a Grand River restoration project were somehow folded together on the same WZZM graphic. Subtle method to get the viewer's attention. Just trying to say that WNEM is not unique to su...

Re: WDCQ CH19 Delta College
Dave Rhodes was in an office right near where you could walk into the Engineering/MCR section, I certainly recall him. I remember big Pat, and Guy, who seemed to carry a torch for my brother's mother-in-law, Dordi Sverid, the Auction Item collecting lady. I thought my Sat AM engineer's name was Tom....

Re: WDCQ CH19 Delta College
Ran plenty of Master Control there in 1980, running from the "green room" TV back to the control panel on Saturdays. Could have been more professional about my efforts when McEnroe played Borg on July 5, thank God for "hour-long" commercial-free content. Could Andy Rapp still be on the air, or instr...

He was the station’s Operations Manager and Program Director. I had no idea at the time that I posted whether that included on-air duties, voice-tracking, whatever.

From All Access: Nate Bell Out at iHeart Media/Detroit
Got this via email this morning. Being distant from the market and not likely categorized as a "P1" for WJLB and WMXD, I Googled him up to find that Bell joined the Detroit cluster just over a year ago.

WION works its way west, on an FM Translator
Their 100.3 FM signal is up and running, something the Ionia based station has acknowledged in a number of their promos and buffers on all their signals. I could get it in, up to about the Cascade Road exit on westbound I-96 early Sunday morning. Hard to say if they will turn any business in Ada and...
