Re: LMAO @ freep.com
It is nice to know the Freep (finally) realized the story still deserves prominent coverage. In view of folks who might not have kept tabs on the news yesterday evening and might check headlines first thing in the morning, it strikes me as very odd that the Freep wouldn't make an effort to give the ...

Re: Should convicted felons be allowed to vote?
If any sentence has already been served, all fines paid and any probationary period completed, those with felony convictions should be allowed to vote.

LMAO @ freep.com
I guess an unprecedented felony conviction of a former President (and current candidate for that same office) is not considered major news by The Detroit Free Press? Eight or nine stories on their home page receive higher billing than this one! At detnews.com, Trump's jury conviction is the top stor...

Re: Let's talk about the merits of the NY case against Trump
A sickeningly high number, I'm sure.Do you know how many people are in prison thanks to an overzealous attorney?
The Innocence Clinic at the U-M Law School is a wonderful organization.

Re: Let's talk about the merits of the NY case against Trump
I certainly don't dismiss the possibility I don't understand the law as written in the state of New York as applied to the matter at hand. I am sure they have some absurd laws on the books, and this may be one such law. Politicians over multiple generations have written and passed many pieces of ill...

Re: Let's talk about the merits of the NY case against Trump
Let's dissect this statement (great find, Rate This): In order to find Trump guilty, the jury had to conclude beyond a reasonable doubt not only that Trump falsified the records with a fraudulent intent, but also that Trump did so to commit or conceal another crime. That underlying crime, prosecutor...

Re: Let's talk about the merits of the NY case against Trump
They are meritless, and the trial was a joke. The idea that Trump is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of intentionally orchestrating a scheme to violate campaign finance laws is utterly ludicrous. I agree completely. The notion the $130,000 constituted a campaign contribution is completely bizarre,...

I'm stunned by the verdict. WOW.
I'm sure Trump's team will exhaust all possible avenues to attempt an appeal.

Good article from FOX News (there's something I don't often say!) regarding the situation.
The cop indeed was being an asshole.

Re: I predict that Trump will be found not guilty in NY case
I do not like Trump at all (as most of you know), but this criminal case is hogwash. He reported the expense. The case centers around the ledger account / descriptor used to report the $130,000 spent to quash the Stormy Daniels affair story. The prosecution's assertion that the reporting technique s...

Re: Scottie Scheffler arrested for reckless driving and assaulting an officer
The prosecutor's office deserves a harsh rebuke here. Shouldn't it have waited for relevant evidence to be available and reviewed it BEFORE pressing charges? Their statement in court sure sounds much different in tone and in representation of what transpired that morning than the one issued when the...
