Re: Channel 2 in the morning

The likely culprit is tropo activity. Distant stations that broadcast on the same frequency (television RF channel 7) are making it difficult for your TV to decode WJBK's signal. The reason is because your TV is picking up not only digitally transmitted video & audio data from not only WJBK but also...

Re: Sirius XM enters into agreement to buy remaining 81 percent of Pandora

It shouldn't. But if the deal gets done (SXM has NOT been granted exclusivity, meaning there is a chance they can still be outbid), it wouldn't surprise me if we see cross-promotion of SXM programming on the Pandora platform. I cannot rule out limited advertising appearing on SXM music channels year...

Not sure what you mean; the frequency is in the subject line of the OP.

Re: Rod Rosenstein to resign

So, basically, many of the headlines from earlier this afternoon were FAKE NEWS.

I even read a breaking news headline that Rothenstein "verbally resigned."

So many members of the news media suck at their jobs!

Re: James vs. Stabenow / Schuette vs. Whitmer

Calley got crushed in his own party's primary. It is unlikely that he'd be performing much better than Schuette. One reason Michigan has had so many two term governors is because incumbents so often seem to face weak opponents. I mean, Howard Wolpe, Geoff Fieger, Dick DeVos, Mark Schauer. Nuff said!...

In ny driveway in Beverly Hills, I picked up 93.7 WQGR from North Madison, OH around 1:30 this afternoon. Format appears to be Hot AC.

Re: Beautiful music stations

Your WQWQ entry is correct. The format moved from 104.5 to 101.7 when the former flipped to Rock 40.

Programming change at WRIF?

It appears the long running 80s hard rock and hair metal show, Monsters of Rock, has been cancelled.

The station is running its standard playlist in the time slot formerly occupied by M.O.R.

I do. They work for a while, but then the bots seem to solve the riddle. Once I change the solution, things usually simmer down for a good long while.

Re: So...Detroit Tigers

V-Fart hasn't been good in a long time. I'll remember him for getting an unreasonably lengthy contract extension, inexplicably batting ahead of JD Martinez for two straight seasons, and hitting liners into double plays way too often. Only rabid baseball fans give two rips about honoring V-Mart. The ...

Re: Saturday WXYZ WX

It's certainly not, but I have a feeling the Cavs will be relevant again before the Tigers are relevant. I'm not sure if he's even done baseball play by play before. Seems to me there are better candidates for that job, and who's to even say Mario is done? Perhaps Beth is working temporarily at 7 un...

Re: Will the smooth jazz format ever come back in some form?

I am unclear on how they determine how many meters go to each age group. Listeners as young as age 6 receive meters (which strikes me as stupid). My guess is all members of a household receive one.

Re: Windows 10 - Your Thoughts?

Out of curiosity - what is the market share today for XP? I did prefer XP to Windows 7. The differences (to a non-techie user such as myself) seem to be limited to minor cosmetic things. I'm honestly surprised Windows 7's market share is only 32 percent. I assumed it would be higher. Which OS has th...

I need to add three more:

--Tempted by Squeeze

I believe WOMC here in Detroit plays all three. :barf

Russian hacking...

For what it's worth, I probably just cleared about 100 Russia-based autobot registrations from the new user queue. These were received from the past two weeks.

I also had a handful from the Philippines, but by far the Russian ones were most numerous.

I would agree that Term Limits in Lansing have not worked out very well. I am supportive of the concept of Term Limits as a general rule, but I think the limits in place for our legislators in Lansing (especially in the House) are too strict. I think a limit of 16 years or 20 years between both cham...

Prediction: Wisconsin will beat the snot out of its next opponent (Iowa).
Well, the Badgers certainly didn't dominate, and it was a gritty and very close game until inside 2:00 of the fourth quarter, but at the end of the day - Wisconsin picked up a "W" (pun intended!) in Iowa City.

Re: Will the smooth jazz format ever come back in some form?

PPM = portable people meter. It's a pager-like device that picks up a special signal imbedded within the broadcast of AM & FM stations in order to record listening habits. In most top 50 markets in the United States, it is the manner by which radio ratings data is recorded. In smaller markets, the l...
