Re: WMYD 20.1 gave up the ghost
Are those amps in series? You sure you need three amplifiers? I'm guessing the last one is just amplifying noise, along with whatever signal is in there. Will your TV not pick up anything with that last one in-circuit? Have you tried rearranging them to get the one with the lowest noise floor close...

Re: Steve Garagiola is retiring after Sunday's newscasts
SG was always ultra professional, easy to work with and fun to be around. He should be the model when local TV news does a sports segment, not that thing that Bernie does from a time before the internet.

Re: Local news outlets' tardy reporting re: the Crumbleys yesterday
I've noticed the Washington Post has better coverage than the Free Press and News on the breaking news in this case too. I think the hedge fund and corporate owned news rooms in town have been decimated by staff cuts and it really shows when there is a big news event like this. Definitely. The Detr...

Re: Local news outlets' tardy reporting re: the Crumbleys yesterday
In the future, should law enforcement agencies in Michigan consider activating the Emergency Alert System for certain fugitive situations? Good grief, no on the EAS activation. Two dipshits with a proven history of making bad decisions making even bigger mistakes while paying for legal counsel is h...

These local weather apps are privacy quagmires. They are horrible, don't use them.

Re: Media mogul Byron Allen pays $70M for Michigan TV station WJRT
His shows are SO bad Some of his produced travel and food shows are not too bad. Low budget, simply shot, low production value and not a lot of distracting nonsense. But holy crap every other channel of Byron Allen's company that Spectrum shoved on the line-up are beyond awful. His Pets channel is ...

Re: Jim Harper on WJR
Jim Harper and the weekend club, is he still hard right wing? Jim Harper used to own a radio station, right? Experience would tell you that before big group owners gobbled up thousands of stations, stand alone and small group owners were largely conservative. A matter of survival of almost any smal...

Re: Do TV Networks Embellish Crowd Noise?
While the networks do put microphones in the crowd during playoff events (saw it first hand during Tigers playoff games), they do use pre recorded crowd noise in the background. FSD was notorious for it and you’d hear the same loop over and over, especially with certain whoops and screams Same for ...

Re: What I just learned by watching Loco 4....
Well, Paul Gross is a complete moron then, if that is indeed what he said and meant. I didn't see that part of the newscast. 6 inches of rain is not a "500 year event." Some portions of Metro Detroit saw similar rainfall amounts in August 2014. Areas west of Big Rapids saw 7 inches of rain in 24 ho...

Re: April Moss
I hope she was terminated. Ranting like that on-air is unacceptable; I don't give a shit what side she's on, it's beyond unprofessional, especially for a weathercaster -- who is expected to not even bring politics up at ALL -- to let their political feelings loose on the air. Also, PROJECT VERITAS?...

It is beautiful Michigan weather, turn off the TV, the internet, go outside and enjoy it. Life is too short to be pissed off all the time.

Re: Lynne Woodison
Oddly enough, Lynne Woodison is the female voice heard on WJR, on the intros/open&close liners for some of the junk weekend shows. "Theeeee Car Show" and "MSU Today" are two of them, at least. It was never clear to me what exactly brought her into the Fisher Building to cut those liners. Perhaps sh...

Re: Would this be a good move for 98.7?
Going to a strongly rock alternative playlist and branding the station as "The X" makes far too much sense, which is why the brain trust (read: morons) running Audacy won't do it. I think low to mid-level programmers would be all over taking this kind of risk, but upper management is perfectly happ...

Re: Hey, 96.3 WDVD - your audio sounds like horse shit - FIX IT!!!
IIRC, Ann Delisi had the last 'music program' on WJR- it was on Sunday nights and it was titled something like "behind the music" - like Bob Dylan's XM Theme Time Radio, it had a topic, like songs about "whilstling" - I enjoyed her WJR show quite a bit, and it was when WJR still had their superior ...
