While this is not an unbiased source, Al Jazeera claims they're quite widespread.

Re: Let's talk about the merits of the NY case against Trump
Do you think someone who behaves this way should lead our nation? I've made my position on this clear - I don't think the case should have been brought in the first place and that the goal of the prosecutors is not to convict, but to tarnish and to keep Trump off the campaign trail. So to the exten...

Re: Let's talk about the merits of the NY case against Trump
I'd call it more "political" than "productive." I think Trump knows he's probably going to be convicted of something. So he has made the political calculation that if he ends up in jail over violating a gag order that he can argue suppression of his freedom of speech, and he'd much rather that be th...

Re: Let's talk about the merits of the NY case against Trump
I think Trump is daring the Judge to find him in contempt. The judge SHOULD Find him in contempt. He’s so clearly violating the gag order….. That is precisely what happened this morning. https://apnews.com/article/trump-stormy-daniels-hush-money-election-2024-d2f9badee0b28a60d32bc98c0d4e783f Trump ...

Re: Pro-Palestinian terrorist protesters take over Columbia University building
In fairness, I suspect that the majority of pro-Palestinian protesters are peaceful, but there must be enough who are not, or else Columbia would have had no reason to stop in-class learning a week ago. Or for USC to cancel its graduation ceremonies.

Re: TIME: How far Trump would go
Why don't the 2 authors of that piece just come out and say that the world would be better of if we just slaughtered the 75 million people who voted for Trump in 2020? As an aside, I find it comical that one of their criticisms of Trump is that "his support for Israel is not absolute" given at times...

Re: Pro-Palestinian terrorist protesters take over Columbia University building
Meh. These "college kids" are disrupting our entire system of higher education (it is not just Columbia) and have disrupted it far more and for a much longer period of time than did the January 6th rioters.

Pro-Palestinian terrorist protesters take over Columbia University building
I'm a bit surprised there's been no posts here yet on all the protests going on on colleges campuses. Well, one of them has finally reached the threshold that many here would argue amounts to a terrorist insurrection. Dozens of protesters have taken over a building at Columbia University in New York...

Re: Where’s Cricket? Kristi Noem Defends Killing Her Dog
DeSantis remains a highly unlikely choice, IMO. As to residency requirements, RF is correct. It only matters for the electors in the state where the candidates live. And I don't think anybody would have to change residency until after the election and only if Florida's electoral votes mattered. The ...

Re: Where’s Cricket? Kristi Noem Defends Killing Her Dog
I too own a bird. A parrot who I have had in my various homes for 32 years. He laughs, talks, plays with the cat , they are friends, and is totally a family member. People think he is interesting but don't get it. My fascination with birds goes back to my childhood, we had a pet starling that had a...

Re: Where’s Cricket? Kristi Noem Defends Killing Her Dog
Even if a dog is one's personal property, choosing to kill it by gunfire because you are incapable of training it properly is a cringeworthy decision. I have no idea if her actions were legal under South Dakota law, but even if they were, why would that preclude us from criticizing her actions from...
