Right now they are playing Journey's "Any Way You Want it." Honestly, what kind of advertiser wants to reach the demographic of someone happy to have heard that song 10,950 times in the last 30 years, besides Mountain Dew?

Re: CKWW sounds like hot garbage

The audio level seems to jump up and down. No hum though. Hopefully it’s it’s fixed and not choked off so The Big 8 doesn’t die an undignified death… again. I agree - I like CKWW's playlist that sounds so much like early 70s CKLW, CanCon and all. My go-to station when working in the garage or doing...

Re: I am actually going to compliment WJR!

I really gave the "new" morning line-up a chance but it was so bland. Most days to work now I'm listening to Justin Barclay on WFDF, traffic on WWJ, or just surrendering and flipping to Sirius/XM music. I used to listen to Mitch while cooking dinner but can't anymore with his show ending at 6 instea...

Re: CKWW sounds like hot garbage

Have heard the hum for a few days. This afternoon it is half buried under noise like a very distant station.

WRCJ FM Dead Air this Morning

Got up late for work this morning because my radio alarm clock played silence at 6:00 AM - WRCJ 90.9 was not on the air. At 8:00 they were still off. Back on now; I wonder what happened. Have never considered that as a possible downside to a clock radio.

Time to give them a quiz with Dequindre, Lahser, Gratiot, and Schoenherr.

And also mono, which would refer to AM.
Thanks; that must be it.

WFDF broadcasts at 910 kHz, not 930.
Typo corrected; question stands.

Please Help Decipher Mystery Word in 910 WFDF Promo

In a often run promo, WFDF runs a bit with a gag that someone wants to broadcast only out of the right channel of their new WOMC-HD2 repeater. At the end the announcer says "Where right is right, and left "________." It sounds like he's saying "an alsomato" which makes no sense of course. I've liste...

J.P., Jimmy L., Hal, Mike and Oscar you are sorely missed.
I'd add to those greats those who brought fine, tasteful, and interesting music to WJR: Jay Roberts, Karl Haas, Gene Elzy.

Re: WJR, boring programming

WBZ is all news for large chunks of the broadcast day. KFI is great! Too bad 760 does not sound more like them. Yes, during drivetime WBZ is Boston's WWJ or WBBM. I like their morning newscasts and sometimes listen before the sun comes up. In the day, David Brudnoy's evening show on WBZ was great r...

Re: WJR, boring programming

The shame is that AM talkers are doing well in other big markets, KFI in L.A. is #2, WBZ in Boston is #5. There is no reason that our two 3-letter stations couldn't both be in Detroit's top 10.

Re: WJR, boring programming

The question is, what brings WJR back towards the top? This is outside the box thinking, but perhaps a real Detroit centric talk format? You can still have your "everything is the LEFT'S fault" programming, but give Detroiters a reason to tune in. Failing that, bring back beautiful music. There is ...

Re: Early 70s Underground/Freeform Radio CJOM WABX WWWW

The book "Rockin' Down the Dial" has a great chapter on the roots of free-form radio in Detroit in the late '60s. 100.3 WKNR-FM was also an underground station from about 1969 until the 1971 flip to "Stereo Island." 101.1 WXYZ-FM (pre-WRIF) aired a syndicated progressive format from ABC corporate k...

Re: Mixed Feelings About WJR since their Lineup Change

I understand your point, but I wasn’t commenting on the topic of self checkouts in my post. That wasn’t my point. I was commenting on the content of a radio show. I don’t mean to be rude, but the complaining about it on the radio for the past 25 years, as well as the latter part of your comment, is...
