Re: WADL to be sold to Nexstar (through Mission Broadcasting)
I wonder if we'll see Nexstar pull a Fox/New World and switch as many O&O stations they can to The CW. It would be another major network realignment to rival what happened in 1994.

Re: CW 50 to ditch The CW, return to independence
Yes, because ultimately this is business. If both Nexstar and Scripps think that this is best for their bottom lines, then CW20 will happen. It makes sense for Nexstar to have CW on 20 rather than 31 or 38. The question is whether Scripps thinks CW programming can bring in more people than their cur...

Re: CW 50 to ditch The CW, return to independence
CW programming, provided affiliation terms are economically sensible, would certainly help WADL. I could also see WMYD picking up the CW (why not?). I don't see ION moving to WMYD but stranger things have happened, I suppose. Scripps likely has a long term affiliation deal in place with Inyo, owner...

Re: CW 50 to ditch The CW, return to independence
Just so everyone is aware, My Network is not a network and hasn't been for 10 years or more. They are a "program service" (as spelled out in their contract.) They provide 2 hours of programing weekdays. That's a total of 10 a week! Since their service is not on satellite anymore, stations can play ...

Re: CW 50 to ditch The CW, return to independence
WADL is the likely candidate. I wouldn't rule out a subchannel of WDIV. I'd say a low power channel would be more likely than WMYD or WPXD. I could see CW turning up as a subchannel somewhere - but why WDIV? Does Graham Media Group have any sort of connection to Nexstar? RE a potential 'CW38' - doe...

Re: CW 50 to ditch The CW, return to independence
Is there any chance that 20 would want to pick up The CW affiliation?

I still think there's an audience for a light AC/smooth jazz format. Q93.1 anyone? Can't do worse than their terrible country station.

Re: 2023 predictions
WWJ's news will be fairly well received and will challenge for 3rd place by the end of the year. Radio feels harder to predict at the moment, because everything recently that seems to make sense hasn't happened. So I'll take a stab at it: WXYT-AM will be sold to a religious broadcaster. CIMX will du...

Re: WWJ overnight anchor Jim Matthews killed
The Daily Mail seems to have a lot more information... Unlike the sorry excuses that pass for "media" around here. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11251767/Brother-murdered-Michigan-news-anchor-reveals-killer-met-victims-girlfriend-church-NA.html The Daily Mail is based in the UK. There ma...

Re: NBC Discusses Ending Prime-Time Lineup at 10pm
I'm pushing 50 and even I don't watch network TV (or any other) outside of live events. Any TV shows I watch that are on network TV/cable, I watch timeshifted on catch-up.

Re: NBC Discusses Ending Prime-Time Lineup at 10pm,
I remember this very well. As a teen Letterman fan in the 90s (I was literally the only one), it was great to get the jump start at 11. 62 must have actually gotten the tape of Letterman's show sent to them specifically by CBS so they could air it early and not wait for the network feed, right? The...

Re: NBC Discusses Ending Prime-Time Lineup at 10pm,
My mentioning Leno is no comment on my thoughts of him - I didn' t like him as Tonight Show host and I think he did the dirty on Conan. When Leno flopped at 10pm streaming was not a thing. It flopped mostly because affiliates hated the bad lead-in for their news. An 11pm half hour of him doing his s...

NBC Discusses Ending Prime-Time Lineup at 10pm
"NBC executives have had discussions about ending the network’s prime-time lineup at 10 p.m. and turning the hour over to local stations, according to two people with knowledge of the talks. With the fall schedule set, the earliest NBC could turn its 10 p.m. hour into local programming would be mor...

Re: Could Detroit support a FM commercial Spanish language station?
I'm not even saying the station has to broadcast fully in the Spanish language. There is quite a lot of latin crossover in the charts, including a fair bit of gold that could be mixed in to appeal to a more mainstream audience. I mean, it can't really do much worse than Alt98.7's 1.5 or 931.'s 1.6 r...
