This funky little number crossed over to Billboard's AC chart in 1987 and also got CHR airplay on Detroit's Z95.5. It's "Chicago Song" (#25 AC).

Power 96 Miami goes 100% Rhythmic Throwbacks
They'd already been doing a CHR/Throwbacks hybrid. They've just dumped all the currents/recurrents.

Re: WTRV 100.5 playlist tweak
I remember you, Mary Ellen! I was in my senior year at Aquinas when EZ105.7 flipped to Star. 100.5's format was still very MOR leaning at that time (what now passes for Adult Standards) and I remember them airing liners like "the way easy listening is SUPPOSED to sound" while 105.7 was still known a...

Re: WTRV 100.5 playlist tweak
WTRV did do a softer version of Mainstream AC for a time before shifting back to Soft AC. This was when Tom Cook was there, and right before he instituted the shift to Soft AC. I don't think Townsquare GR started taking the corporate playlists until after he left for Baltimore, so the music was stil...

Re: WTRV 100.5 playlist tweak
Whatever happens, I have a very sneaky suspicion 95.7's nearly 60-year history of playing some kind of pop/rock format (dating back to WZZM-FM) is about to end. I would almost bet my life on Country being the new format. I don't think a third CHR in the market makes sense. That pie is getting smalle...

WTRV 100.5 playlist tweak
It looks like The River has shifted from Soft AC to Mainstream AC. They' appear to be airing Townsquare's corporate AC format, as their playlist matches that of 99.1 WFMK. This makes me wonder if M.W.'s idea about 95.7 going Country (and the rumbles about 107.3 returning to Sports) is about to come ...

Urban One has Classix 107.9 in Philly. They should have flipped 107.5 WGPR to that while they were still in Detroit.

Streaming WOOD TV at the moment. They are doing their usual excellent job.
Word is that Centreville took a direct hit and 4-inch hail was reported around Union City.

That's at 530 and 1610 kHz, so I think that's safe.BirdieKingBobo wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 5:02 pmDoes this mean the looping radio message that is played when crossing the Mackinac Bridge will no longer be played??? That is tradition to listen to when crossing the bridge.

Re: Beyonce and Country Radio
"Jolene" got some airplay on country stations as an "album bomb" when Cowboy Carter was first released. It has yet to show any additional activity at any format. If it does get released, I wouldn't expect it to do any better, as many country listeners are up in arms about the lyric changes, even tho...

Re: Beyonce and Country Radio
Stick in a fork in it, it's done. "Texas Hold 'Em" has fallen out of the Top 50 in country airplay. It remains #1 on Hot Country Songs. Meanwhile, it's also losing steam at CHR, Hot AC and Rhythmic and is also out of the Top 50 at Urban radio. Looks like not many stations put it in power, it's burne...

Re: MOAR COUNTRY!!
Those are both legitimate pop crossover hits. Every AC station in the nation plays them. WRVF isn't doing anything unusual. Country music has been crossing over to AC formats for as long as format radio has existed. In the '70s it was Kenny Rogers and Crystal Gayle. In the '80s it was Dolly Parton. ...

Hot 107.5 is targeting a demo that doesn't use radio much, if ever. That demo streams. Note that of the three hip-hop stations in the market, the highest-rated is the throwback station. Channel 955 plays a healthy dose of rhythmic throwbacks as well. Mix 92.3 has the Urban Adult heritage and Kiss ha...

WNEM 5 also had cable carriage in Alpena when they were an NBC affiliate.
The southern part of WBKB's coverage area undoubtedly has more connection to Tri-Cities media than to Traverse City. Tawas City could care less about Manistee or Harbor Springs.
