Re: Blarney Stone Petitions FCC to cancel WLDR license
If you look at the old issues of Television Factbook online (americanradiohistory.com)(Telecasting ended in 1958) and look at the Grade B contours of WPBN and WTOM, you'll see that they had to eliminate or minimize overlap of the Grade B contours of the two. That's why WTOM is where it is. Also, as ...

Re: WLC Rogers City
I believe that I heard WLC on 8737.5 kHz or 8759.2 kHz in the late 1960s or early 1970s, in Southeastern Michigan. It was on an old Westinghouse with a long wire antenna and it was near 9 MHz, as imprecise as the dials were in those days. Transmits Receives Mode Power 482 500 500 A1 A2 1.0 4316 4MHz ...

Re: 106.7 on the air?
My sources tell me that they are receiving a consistent signal for W252DA of about 2.8 microvolts, 17 miles away over a line of sight path to the top 1/2 portion of the tower. Not sure where the STA antenna is mounted on the tower.

Re: WAKV Sold
In the old days at least, it might have made sense to swap out 1530 to Otsego and 980 to Wyoming. They have 101 watts omni PSSA on 980 in Otsego. It would have a very high NIF from WONE though. WCUB has an NIF of 28 mV/m from WONE.

Seems like I did play the 45 at the lugubrious 16 2/3 RPM. AllI had was the Liberty 45 with the Aqua label.

Chuck Hill introduced the new format with "Cry Just A LIttle Bit" by Shakin' Stevens in 1984, after the Lees bought out Beck Ross.

Re: 1660 Kalamazoo "The Fan" flips to Urban Format
I think they changed it to an AM translator.Under current rules, there are restrictions to separating the translator from the AM station associated with it. This may change in the future, or there may be exceptions. If anyone has the link about this, please feel free to post. There was a difference ...

Re: 1660 Kalamazoo "The Fan" flips to Urban Format
WTOU 1560 is a Daytimer, 4.1 D3. WQLR 1660 is Fulltime, 10/1 U1. I don't think you can flip the translator to 1660 as the originating station. The AM and translator go together. The WRTH designation is clearer than the FCC designation in this case.

Re: How Many Of You Played "The Chipmunk Song" 45 At 33 RPM?
Hmm, never tried it. What did it sound like, a normal voice? Interesting tidbit: Ross Bagdasarian played the piano player across the courtyard in the classic Hitchcock film Rear Window . , Ross Bagdasarian also wrote "Come On A My House" with his cousin, author William Saroyan. It was a #1 Hit for ...

How many of you who are old enough ever tried playing "The Chipmunk Song" 45 at 33 RPM to see how Ross Bagdasarian, Sr. produced the chipmunk sounds?

In between, WJGS had a tower East of there that was 500 feet high. It was near I-75 and Maple Valley Rd. It was once toppled in a fatal plane crash.

WLC Rogers City
Probably the very first licensed radio station of any kind in Northern Michigan. Too bad the FCC won't allow someone to use the callsign. Extensive History of WLC. http://www.imradioha.org/WLC.htm Antenna supports. At one time there were several towers and several frequencies used. They left the air ...

To HGR1290 About WHGR 1290 Night Pattern
To HGR1290 and others who expressed interest in the old WHGR facility. I found the record in the Canadian Database. Apparently, they considered rebuilding a 3 tower Night array at the new WUPS 98.5 site on the hill, with 4.6 kW Night. I would assume that the parameters are either identical or nearly ...
