Re: WLMB seeks a relocation to UHF

Well- This move works for a few years, until TV does, like radio is starting to. We See AM radio dying the quickest. What is it with Christian organizations holding on to old and dyeing technology? Shocked they did not ask for shortwave space. If you wanna get them young... USE THE KIDS' TECHNOLOGY...

I'd rather have 107.5 be a classic soul format with a heavy emphasis on Motown, as WOMC doesn't play nearly as much of it as they used to.
In the meantime, you may listen to 690 as you make your morning commute.

Re: WLMB seeks a relocation to UHF

The FCC should get rid of the setup wherein there are zones with different power limits. I know it's because of terrain differences, but it doesn't help the roughly terrained zone (zone II) as much as it hurts the flat zones (zones I and III). Plus I think it might be unconstitutional. The Low VHF ...

That was like sometime ago but WGPR today, is a bottom dweller.
I guess WGPR would really be a "Top Dweller", and that's a problem.

Most of the stations appealing to the urban market are grouped about 1/3 way up the dial - some listeners don't want to hit the "up" button many times to hear WGPR.

Re: 1320 WDMJ Marquette VERY weak

I liked it in the days when it was a standards station. We always went to Marquette every summer, before the schools closed (my wife was a teacher).

In (I believe the early naughts) that WDET was also on the Macabees Building. They got booted from that spire and built a new self-supporting tower a stones-throw away on Canfield St.

Re: 107.5

107.5 has always had bad ratings and poor revenue throughout it's whole life. What else is new? Hard to believe, but WGPR was briefly a consistent top 5 rated station in the late 1970s, eating 1400 WJLB alive. In the early eighties, Booth (the owners of both 1400 AM WLJB and 97.9 WMZK) flipped the ...

I noticed something was wrong about 3 days ago. Seemed to have a louder "hiss" than a typical vacant channel.

Re: Toledo Book June 4th

Great results for both 104.7 WIOT and 94.5 XKR. Too bad we cannot see the AQH share of 107.7 The Wolf, Hot 97.3 or Mix 95.7. Looks like nearly everyone in Toledo stopped listening to WJR ages ago. Twenty years ago, WJR used to be good for a 3 share. I can remember when WJR had an advertising sales ...

Re: Radio tower locations

Looking at the History Cards, WKNR-FM 100.3 moved to 8009 Lyndon St., licensed 9-15-66, after being on one of the WKNR 1310 towers. When they were on 1540, they were 1 kW nondirectional. When they moved to 1310, at first they were 1 kW nondirectional. I think then they went to 5 kW DA with 2 towers...

There off the air half the time anymore. It could be a matter of time until CSN just hands the license in, but they would likely keep 99.5fm.
Is there a translator on 99.5 in Toledo?
That's awfully close to a Class B in Detroit!

Re: How Many Of You Are Going To Participate In The FCC Auction?

The FCC is smoking something these days. RW reported you could bid on an FM CP as lowe as $750-$1500, but the FCC boys asked for a minimum bid of $50K for an AM daytimer. WTF am I missing? Let's kill AM quicker by making any AM opening cost 25x what an FM CP would cost? Can you believe it? Very str...

Re: How Many Of You Are Going To Participate In The FCC Auction?

Just out of curiosity: Have their been any AM auctions? Or TV auctions?, since the repack? There's probably as many as 300 vacant slots in the VHF TV low band, provided they would have must-carry status on cable and satellite. Yes, the authorized power levels for Low-V TV would have to be increased....

Re: 106.5 Toledo

I've thought for sometime that maybe a commercial Spanish language station, on say a translator ought to be given a shot. I'm thinking likely a regional Mexican format. Toledo has a decent sized LGBTQ community as well, that doesn't get acknowledged much of the time. People in Toledo can hear WDTW ...
