Re: RIP Non Compete Clause
Even if it does go to court (which I agree that it most likely will), I don't think it will be overturned. I'm sure there are some loopholes that corporations will find to do the same thing as a non-compete.

Re: WJMN TV to be sold to Morgan Murphy by Nexstar
Sinclair only owns WSMH. They are operating WEYI through a shared services agreement with Armstrong Williams’ Howard Stirk Holdings. They run WBSF through Cunningham. All sidecar deals to avoid running into FCC ownership cap issues. However, the FCC has been cracking down these end arounds with law...

Re: WJMN TV to be sold to Morgan Murphy by Nexstar
Now..as to MORGAN MURPHY, if I was a betting man, i'd say that WJMN or WBUP will have its news department shrunk down to a news bureau for WPBN/WTOM's UP NORTH LIVE , while the other would have the same deal but with Gray Media's WLUC TV If that were to happen, it would only last short while. Then ...

Re: WJMN TV to be sold to Morgan Murphy by Nexstar
It is in the Marquette market. Sounds like Morgan Murphy is trying to circumvent FCC ownership limits by using a variable interest entity to acquire WJMN. I am uncertain if the FCC views WBKP and WBUP as a satellite station situation or as a duopoly. If I were a betting man, I'd place my money on t...

9&10 was going to work with WBKB first?T’Variuness King wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 3:03 pmWe can afford the new sign on 131. We're bleeding money at this point. The WBKB deal was essentially done until we pulled out due to financial issues. Our staff is now feeling the financial concerns everyday.

Re: WBKB Partners with UpNorthLive
Same room as has always been used for in-station reporting when not in studio - just a new name as described by the banner and reporter. It doubles as being a more honest description. Ok. Been a while, thought it was a new name for the studio. You never know with some companies what they'll name/ch...

Re: WBKB Partners with UpNorthLive
That very well may part of it. I have heard some have missed 7&4's news. Although, you can watch it online, so I don't see why the OTA matters.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 10:36 amAnother item to consider: 7&4 was the de facto NBC affiliate for the puny Alpena market for decades.

Re: More layoffs at 9&10 News
No way that’s even going to happen. Sinclair doesn’t care about their TC market, let alone buying another station in the same market. Look at how much they have drained from what 7/4 used to be. If Sinclair actually cared, they could takeover the market. Starts with having a noon and 4pm newscast. ...

Who are the 2 reporters at 7&4? All I see are two "multimedia journalists" after anchors/weather/sports.BirdieKingBobo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 7:55 pm
The Amphersand is down to two reporters ... which isn't half as bad as WWMT .... who has none left. ALL anchors.
Reminds me a bit of the staff roster just before Raycom bought the station.

Re: Broadcasting burnout
It's a combination of burnout, greed, and agenda. While I was a kid in the 90s, from what I have gathered from watching various news casts on YouTube, it seems the 90s was the "Golden Age" for news and tech. Then the 2000s came and it all started to go downhill. The greed became more as large compan...
