Re: So...Detroit Tigers

I used to be an avid sports fan as a youngster. Now at 66 I am maybe an average or slightly below average sports fan, whatever the hell that means. But I've always felt a color commentator for baseball is barely necessary. Football on the other hand its very important because of the nature if the g...

So...Detroit Tigers

Until Tuesday, there was no reason for any action. This is literally the first time there has been an issue on the job (with strong emphasis on the phrase on the job). There was no reason for anyone to think something like what happened was imminent. It really wasn’t a H*** deal before - Just two gu...

Re: So...Detroit Tigers

The media doesn’t have to credit Moss on something that has been common knowledge in the press corps for a decade. As a professional, knowing what is relevant to cover (or not) is something that is learned in Journalism 101. Mr. Impemba and Mr. Allen’s personal relationship had no bearing on the job...

Re: Brandstatter Fired From Lions Broadcasts

Lomas Brown is a good choice. Mildly surprising that WJR didn't offer Brandstatter some kind of a senior analyst type position where he could host some pre-, halftime and post-game stuff and provide game insight coming out of breaks, etc without traveling with the team. Would have eased the transiti...

Re: March 2018 Radio Ratings

106.7 is cursed because of executive meddling. whenever the station has a GOOD format that actually is popular, it gets flipped to something else just to chase trends. It did fairly well with prog rock in the 1970s, as my father tells me.... and i remember its twilight years as W4 Country in the mi...

Re: Clark & Purtain

One would think that LouPerry would get the spelling of Purtan correct, just once, when posting about any of the multiple members of their family that have been involved in Detroit media for the last 53 years.

Re: Thumbs down to Fox Sports Detroit

Fox is probably squeezing every penny in advance of the sale to Disney/ESPN (if ultimately approved).

You’d think that an ESPN run RSN would have more of a focus on news and commentary type programming vs Fox to cross promote the mothership.

LOL!! That had to be someone’s idea of a joke / farewell on their last day. The fake Olympic Rings are almost as good as the restaurant name drop.

Some financial institutions, employers, etc give free access to the online version. But the various versions of TurboTax on CD is still something you can buy.

Re: MSU Coverup of Nassar

How bad it is with Engler is directly proportional to the amount of time he is in place. He should be fine to stop the bleeding short term as an interim president.

Hopefully the BOT does something right and hires an outsider sooner rather than later. I'm not holding my breath.

Re: MSU Coverup of Nassar

So your take is essentially that because there will always be sexual deviants out there, we should do nothing differently to try and prevent it. Giving victims a voice is a bad thing because it creates a circus or spectacle and that's worse than listening and trying to figure out how to make it bett...

MSU Coverup of Nassar

I’m confused. Did any radio or TV station cover wall-to-wall the victim statements live on their main / over-the-air signal? I was under the impression that the coverage was only available if one chose to watch it via a web stream that you had to purposely seek out? I was aware only of some “drop in...

Re: MSU Coverup of Nassar

If you said there were another 100 after seeing 65 I’d be screaming for mercy... I don’t need another 100 to hammer home how big the number is. I’m a big boy and I can figure out and understand the numbers without each and every statement. Obviously there is no way to pick and choose but to say eac...

By the way, it you *really* want to be angry at how taxpayer money is used at MSU, just check out the job Lou Anna Simon’s husband Roy has there.

Re: Rick Snyder doesn't understand the State Constitution

Depends. Independent of looking at her specific contract, firing for someone for cause in a situation of someone like a university president is a long drawn out legal process, especially when the cause is something that is subjective. It's usually cheaper just to honor the terms of the golden parach...

Re: MSU Coverup of Nassar

Each and every one of the survivor (and the mother of the girl that committed suicide) impact statements were of equal importance. Some were more effective than others - especially the grand slam that Rachael Denhollander delivered. The point has not hit home yet. Sure, there is lots of attention ri...

Rick Snyder doesn't understand the State Constitution

Ferguson’s verbal assault on the survivors is unconscionable, disturbing, and any other negative adjective you want to throw out there. Unfortunately though, his statements are protected speech. All the grandstanding in the world doesn’t change the fact there is no legal ground to remove him from of...
