Re: Why must you waste our time?

I grew up in the 1960's and watched Walter Cronkite, Chet Huntley, David Brinkly, etc. These people were journalists. What I see today, is a bunch of clueless Teleprompter Readers, reading scripted garbage handed down from a Biased Corporate or a Biased local news director. It is laughable to say t...

Re: YouTube TV now available in the Motor City!

What's available? It's ike an ultra-skinny cable package with the following local stations: WJBK (FOX 2) WDIV (Local 4) WXYZ (Channel 7) WKBD (CW 50) WWJ (CBS 62) Telemundo (presumably from WNJU 47 New York City) I suppose it's mandatory to have at least one Spanish channel. Considering that there'...

Re: YouTube TV now available in the Motor City!

Due to broadcast rights, subscribers won't be able to view it if they travel outside of the USA and sign in... Of course, if you use a VPN service pointed to a US IP, I would think you can use it almost anywhere in the world. ...and it's not available to Canadians, either... no word on if that will...

Re: Old cable lineups

I just noticed in that chart that I shared that WKBD Detroit was an ABC affiliate back then. I didn't know that. (The preceding was sarcasm.)

Re: Old cable lineups

I came across a conversion chart for Sault Ste-Marie and Elliot Lake, Ontario from a 1989 North Shore Edition of TV Guide. Interestingly, WNEM and WJRT was carried in the Canadian Soo and not WTOM (a so-called "CBS" affiliate) or WGTQ: http://www.vintagetvguide.ca/tv-guide-channels-listed.php?Editio...

Re: So long, Esquire network!!!

One has to wonder if we have too many cable channels that show the same stuff as the others -- from Esquire TV's Wikipedia article : On October 1, 2016, Dish Network removed the channel from the lineup. As with their earlier dropping of Cloo, the provider justified it by stating that Esquire's sched...

Re: CBC's Peter Mansbridge Retiring

Peter did a Facebook live question and answer on Monday. One of the questions was who did you listen to when getting started? He reply was, "Being in the middle of nowhere, I would listen to shortwave news readers when ever I could. Then after going to Winnipeg, I could tap into the networks." Sadl...

What can be done about this.... if anything ? Go complain to Crawford directly and tell them to "knock off their shenanigans"?
Not Crawford's problem this time: WNUC is owned by a local not-for-profit, the North End Woodward Community Coalition:

My guess is the hotel cable picked up the local cable channels, then rearranged the order to their taste.

Re: Network programming preemptions by individual stations

Thanks. I knew WNWO would air it but wondered if WDIV or NBC worked out a deal to have an alternate local station broadcast those NBC shows that WDIV doesn't want. Apparently not. Apparently, WDIV refuses to let others show pre-empted programs or move them to their subs, as they didn't want others ...

TV Line Up For Fairfield Inn South Canton OH (local sations are from Cleveland or Akron, I haven't watched any of them yet.) 4 NBC 5 Fox 7 ABC 9 CBS 10 PBS 11 CW I take it that all of these would be Cleveland (except maybe for PBS, which may either be WVIZ or WNEO / WAEO. One thing I noticed is tha...

Re: Closing Logos of the Past

Wasn't Desilu originally at the end of Star Trek (TOS) before they added the Paramount logo, or was it always there? The Desilu logo was used during the first season and, I think, part of the second -- between seasons, Gulf + Western acquired Desilu and was folding it into Paramount, which became P...

"Paramount - a Gulf Western company" (with light blue background) is one I remember seeing all the time.
And viewers of "The Brady Bunch" are aware of its predecessor, whose logo zooms up at you from the right at the last second.

Do any other Michigan Lottery broadcasters simulcast WDIV during the drawings? Surprised if that wasn't a standard elsewhere. Surprised that they still had daily draws that were actually televised -- the Florida Lottery (whose draws were broadcast via satellite) ceased televised draws of daily game...

Re: Closing Logos of the Past

There have been some logos, though, that have ended up as afternoon nightmares for countless children, the most notable being Viacom's "V Of Doom" logo from the 1970's, which lasted into the 1980's. That logo alone has all sorts of variations which have increased the nightmare factor alone. Some of...

No doubt WNEM appreciated one of their subs being dropped in favor of another sub from a competing station.

Re: Is WNUC-LP at 96.7 MHz on the air in Detroit?

104.7 only if it was north of 696 and had a null to the south. 95.1 would have to have a null north of 59. Good luck finding an open frequency that doesn't step on the toes of neighboring stations. With Detroit being a large FM market, plus some consideration paid to Windsor and its own expanding m...

It was broadcast on Ch 31 Ann Arbor which was WIHT then (In Home Theatre). The transmitter was actually near Chelsea, with a satellite repeater on Ch48 in St. Clair Shores. At one time it was scrambled 24 hours a day. They used a much more secure system called SSAVI, then what was used for ON-TV. W...
