Re: The downward spiral continues

I don't watch local news, I haven't in several years. I don't have to put up with the aggravation of watching the lack of credibility. I can get all my NEWS and Weather information from other sources. So what, don't care. This particular discussion is about ongoing technical incompetence and manage...

Re: WPON Update - 2018

The only way Birach (BBC) can cash out of his mess is to keep the license alive long enough to find a willing buyer. That would likely be a non-profit, because the commercial value of the property isn't enough to warrant the erection of the towers. That's the only practical explanation for what BBC...

1250 needs to get their FM translator on the air ASAP....
It was mentioned in a thread about 1250's former incarnation, WHHQ, that the station has a permit for an FM translator for 98.5FM, so maybe it'll pop up there soon.

Also, don't forget WXYZ when they ran them in the late afternoon, I believe at 4 PM.
Until the early-1980s, they had "The 4:30 Movie", and had an opening similar to this one:

Re: Movies on TV

WNEM used to have afternoon movies with "Dialing for Dollars" that ran up to the 6pm news. Sometimes they would have a theme for the week, such as scifi, war, and etc. movies. Growing up in the 1970s in Mid-Michigan, I don't recall WNEM carrying D4$, though they did have a 4PM movie to fill the tim...

Re: WCMU

Charter in Bay City has switched the channel formerly labeled WCMZ to WCMU. Not sure why they didn't just have it that way to begin with. Even back in the Bresnan and even Gerity days, the system always carried WCMU from Mount Pleasant. Bresnan would pick up WFUM sometime in the early-2000s, alongs...

Re: WCMU

WUSF in Tampa pulled the same stunt a year ago. Sold out. Didn't care about the loyal viewers who had supported them for years. At the last minute, the station was sold to competing station WEDU, as part of a signal consolidation plan. That station's now WEDQ, but now broadcasts at channel 3.4, on ...

WLBS, the only station that mattered has gone Jesus. Irony.
The former sister station to NYC's WBLS, complete with the sideways "W".

Re: WCMU

What about Sanilac County? Comcast's crappy systems there had WCMZ as their only PBS. I wonder if they're going without PBS or those systems picked up WTVS or WDCQ. FCC regulations require cable systems to carry at least one public TV station, so they must replace WCMZ with another station -- very ...

"My Favorite Martian" is available on Amazon Prime. Not a live streaming service, but if you're looking for classic TV archives, that's the way to go.
These guys also have it on YouTube, run by the distributors themselves:

Re: Old cable lineups

I found a couple early '80s lineups from Windsor and some other Southwestern Ontario communities. Except for Windsor these are from September of 1983. These were taken from old TV Guide issues so I don't know who the providers were. Sarnia: 20 - WJET 24/ABC Erie Amazing that the Sarnia cable system...

Re: 99x Atlanta to cease transmission

There used to be a time when the excitement of radio includes listening to stations from the next market over. But with new stations signing on and FM repeaters of AM stations and HD2s expanding like wildfire, the thrill is gone.

From their Facebook page..... "Pursuant to a decision by the FCC, 99x will cease transmission at 98.9 FM at midnight tonight. 99x will still be broadcast on 99.7 HD2, on the 99x app, Alexa and streaming at 99x.com." I'm guessing the big radio giants are starting to get pissy about all the translato...

My biggest concern is wheteher or not I'll be able to see the full season of Quiz Central.
(To me the show gets better the closer you get to the final round.)
Does WCMU make its programs available online? If so, maybe you can watch it from there.

Re: CMU Sells Flint WCMZ-TV In FCC Spectrum Auction

At the time, WCMU wasn't on cable in Flint or Saginaw (I think WCMU and WFUM had very little overlap when it came to cable carriage) It was available in Bay City and Midland, alongside WDCQ and WFUM. After WFUM flipped to WCMZ, I believe the Charter system in those cities still carried both WCMU an...
