So Catholic radio WDEO has applied for a translator on 105.5 with a DEEP NULL TO THE EAST. 990 WDEO itself has a DEEP NULL TO THE EAST to protect 980 CFPL London Ontario. 1090 WCAR Livonia carried Catholic programming at one time, and they also have a DEEP NULL TO THE EAST to protect 1090 CKKW Kitch...

Crawford’s corporate office wants FM translators for all their AM stations, so they are not going to give up. Can they lower power to as low as one watt, just to say they have a translator? WMUZ AM 1200 was signed on by Crawford on November 1, 2017. For months they just ran mostly reruns from their ...

Re: Recording OTA TV

ZenithCKLW is right, it skips because it can’t buffer the stream fast enough. I have a cheap Homeworx unit, and the problem is that the external hard drive or flash drive that I connect to it cannot RECORD fast enough to keep up with HD programming (it records 480i standard definition channels just ...

Re: Soul 99.9 dead air

As of 12:00 Noon, both the Soul 99.9 translator, and the source, 105.9 WDMK-HD2, have no audio. I assume that Radio One Detroit is running on as few employees as possible. The General Manager of the St. Louis cluster is now running Detroit. Are they cutting costs to prep for station sales or trades?...

Re: WNEM Misspelled Words....

I realize that stations in midsize markets are now hiring people that are barely out of college. But shouldn’t they have learned how to spell common words BEFORE they went to college? They shouldn’t need to learn spelling while “paying their dues” in a small market. I do understand typographical err...

Re: "The All New" 104.3 WOMC.....not interested

It seems like every time a jock opens his microphone on “The New 104.3” they are talking about some type of contest. A real turnoff for the majority of listeners that don’t participate in the contests.

Re: "The All New" 104.3 WOMC.....not interested

Bobby and Stacey have not been completely removed from the WOMC web site. On the home page, click “On Air” and there is a link for “Bobby and Stacey”. Click on it and it gives a 404 error. Click on “Jim Johnson” and you get a photo of an older gray-haired guy. How much longer will he last at the now...

Dick Purtan has a web site:

dickpurtan.com

On it he posts jokes and comments on a blog, and does audio podcasts with his daughter Jackie, and guests. After all those years in radio, he still does a little of the same thing on the web, except no music

There are rumors that Entercom might bring an Alternative format to Detroit. Which of their 4 FMs is least profitable?

Station owners, in general, prefer younger demos. So which commercial FM stations in Detroit have the oldest demos?

Re: WPON Update - 2017

I don’t know that it is worth building the new transmitter site for puny 1460 WPON, but it is supposed to be shared with new facilities for 1160 WCXI, which looks like it would have decent coverage of metro Detroit, at least during the daytime with 15,000 watts. I would think there would be some dem...

Re: WXYZ goes all-out Heidi...

If that's the case things changed because Lansing was included in Lions blackouts for a long time. Fox 47, WILX, and channel 6 did not get blacked out Lions games. [/quote] Yes, things changed. At one point, the mileage for blackout stations expanded, and the CBS Lions home games were no longer on t...

Re: WXYZ goes all-out Heidi...

Back in the days of Lions home game blackouts, many people, including my father, had large outdoor antennas aimed toward channel 6 in Lansing. All the elements (metal rods) were the same length to be resonant on channel 6. I think the antenna was maybe 4 or 5 ft wide total. It also performed okay on...

WMUZ AM 1200 has a brokered Christian teaching format. They announced that they are filling in the unsold time with time shifted programming from WMUZ-FM 103.5, including Contemporary Christian music. They call themselves “AM 1200, The Salt”. Their FM station is known as “The Light”. Together, WMUZ ...

1200 WCHB has changed their call letters to WMUZ in preparation for their new format. They are currently silent while installing a new transmitter and equipment, after being purchased by Crawford. Has WPON returned to the air, if even from a temporary low power transmitter?
