Buckeye Cable rant

Without writing multiple paragraphs, Buckeye in SE MI carry's some local stations that the Toledo are doesn't get. Buckeye in Erie county Ohio sort of the same. Here in The Toledo area, on the Ohio side. Over time we have lost almost all of the Detroit stations. Ch 50 has been gone for sometime and ...

Re: Pay Movie Channels back in the day

With Playboy, you had to buy it in 4 hour blocks, I think it was like a pay per view type deal. I remember hearing about it :P. Weird thing was, Buckeye didn't carry Cinemax up untill like 2001-2002. Which I thought was a bit odd. With Buckeye, with The Tocom boxes, if you flipped to a pay channel i...

Re: Pay Movie Channels back in the day

The Tocom box with the wood grain on it, my grandparents had that one, you could flip between A/B on the remote. They also had the General Instruments one shown for a time, We had that one too after we finally got to ditch Bedford Cable in 2001, I was still living at home then. The Motorola one i ha...

Re: AM1520 Format change

Well sure, I know there was talk of a deal, with EMF buying 90.9fm , then WDTR. The deal fell through for some reason or another. They could hypothetically acquire 101.9fm but I don't see it happening.

Re: Minneapolis gets an Urban station.. Sort of

Right, I found out about all of that after the fact, Imus on a AAA station. Thats just weird. I've heard a few air checks of Rev, it did sound like a neat station. KREV/WREV/KCFE. There call letter combination now is messed up. I cant see Cumulus ever using WRXP anyplace or WWWM again for that matte...

Re: AM1520 Format change

Well.. EMF would want an FM for K-Love. There not going to want to fool with an AM station in a major Market. I do think, they have there eye on the market, Probably waiting for the right moment. For example, I think they could try to acquire WGPR from The Masons or possibly 102.7 from Radio one. Th...

Re: Minneapolis gets an Urban station.. Sort of

Yes, Total bone head move. Love was about the only thing that worked on the 105's. I remember one time listening to Zone 105 online, like back in late 2000 and my mom making me get off line so she could use the phone, ha ha. They did Jammin oldies for about 11 months in 2001. I think The Ticket's la...

Re: How did old school Cable Boxes work?

I remember for a time Bedford Cable's channels went up to like 47 and then later like 53, then skipped to 98-99. We never had the dial on the box but when we would go on Vacation to South Carolina, the same place we always stayed, for the longest time had that type of box. This was till like 95, the...

Re: McDonalds doing away with happy meal cheeseburgers

I have not eaten McDonalds food in a few years, I always feel weird after i eat it. Honestly, I try to avoid fast food when possible. I do Subway a couple times a month. Usually get a Turkey Breast 12in or just a 12in Veggie.

How did old school Cable Boxes work?

In Bedford Twp where I grew up, Bedford Cable issued either a Jerrold 400 or 450 box, later a Scientific Atlanta one. http://www.garysargent.co.uk/tivo/image ... guentl.jpg https://img0.etsystatic.com/102/0/74661 ... 2_5h0w.jpg The Pay Cable Channels that were offered were: 14 Pay per view 15 TMC 16...

Should I get AT&T U-verse?

I currently have Buckeye Cable, I am looking into U-verse. It seems like you get a lot more for your money, even the lowest package has a lot more channels for only a little bit more a month. I am paying 30$ a month plus tax for just 30 channels, most of them religious and just local. I do have inte...
